yes, i'm running as a socialist

It appears, though, that the trend is in their favor:

Poll Finds Nearly Half Of Millennials Prefer Socialism To Capitalism

The term no longer scares people.
.
"Hey, it's worked so well in Venezuela, why not try it here?"
I think the term is perceived to be a bit closer to Europe than to Venezuela.

This all exists on a continuum. For example, we already have elements of socialism here. That doesn't make us socialist.
.
A couple of decades ago Socialism was all the rage throughout many parts of Europe.
Now the voters in those countries have watched their country implode and they are rejecting Socialism.
it's like when you're a kid and people tell you don't put your hand in the fire, it will burn. well if they trusted for so long sooner or later someone is gonna come along and try it again vs. listen to experience.

like i said - we're not doing the next generations any favors with our collective stupidity, but socialism isn't the way to go as a complete solution.

The effects of eating Tide pods, Millennials are mental defectives,
Insults aside, they still vote.
.
Unfortunetly, time to bring back IQ requirements for voting

That will only speed up the movement towards socialism.

It must be fun to just say anything you want without any basis in reality.

Oh I know. Which is why I said it would speed up the movement to "socialism". Smart people aren't scared of the word.

Dems 2018: We're Socialist because 240 years of Freedom and prosperity are more than your Fair Share, America! Turn over your guns and hand over your wallet

What scares me is that the same young liberals who seem to be ready to embrace socialism are as confused about what distinguishes socialism and capitalism as are the dusty, old curmudgeons who set out trying to turn it into a scary word in the first place by spreading ignorance and false information.

You fuckers should be forced to live in Venezuela for a month

We are closer to socialism than capitalism in many areas, people just do not want to admit it.

How else do we make sure our lowest grade is well taken care of?
Hussein spent eight long years busting his ass to move this nation closer to Venezuela didn’t he?

And Donnie is pushing harder on the gas pedal

China and Russia roundly rejected redistribution economics as a failed system. They're laughing at Bernie and our "Progressives"

China has a Socialist Market Economy, the Govt controls much of the economic decision making.

It is the same place Trump is trying to take us

For the trend to favor them, they have to vote, and so far they haven’t really shown up at the polls.
yea, but are we seeing the start or the end of something? guess we'll see.

Hard to predict for sure, but generally the older people get, the more conservative they become. So although the millennials May embrace socialism now, it is unlikely the group will be as socialistic as they age.

It seems though that the youth are much further left than the youth of my day (70s). So even if they move right they will still be left, which is why we are moving ever leftward

I'll ask again:

America has "socialist" elements: Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, government agencies.

Are we "socialist"? Why or why not?

Is England "socialist"?

Is France "socialist"?

Is Norway "socialist"?

When is a country NOT "socialist" one day, and then "socialist" the next?
.

right now i do see it as a fad. but i see it as a bigger sign of their own frustrations in how "adults" are handling things now. if i were a millennial, i'd not want this current form of crap and debt handed down to me.

Either 'socialist' or 'capitalist'? What a totally laughable dichotomy! There is no dividing the two when one understands the meaning of both terms. Of course, that excludes most of the mush that appears as posts here.
