Yes, As a Matter of Fact, Obama COULD Lower Gas Prices

What part of 'gasoline and diesel have become the largest US exports' don't you people get? Opening up more oil fields would just mean that we would export even more gasoline and diesel. What we are seeing is an increasing worldwide demand for gasoline and oil. A demand where the people in Europe and Asia are quite willing to pay $5 or more. It is the free market at work, are all you 'Conservatives' against the free market?

As for the nonsense concerning oil shale, there is no economically feasable way to get the 'oil', actually a carogen, out of the shale. All known processes use a vast amount of water, heat, and energy for the crushing machinery.

If he chose to, yes he could.

He could stop the government from interfering in energy production and transportation.
He could push to eliminate the Federal gas tax (It's seriously messed up when the government, which does nothing, makes more money off every gallon, then the company who does everything does).
He could approve more energy production, decreasing the demand for gas/oil,

There are lots of other things he could do as well.

Domestic oil production is up. But I love it when you guys say the government should get out of the business of regulating markets.

Okay. The government should also NEVER EVER step in between Labor and Managment disputes.

Ever.

You with that one?

'All-or-nothing' logical fallacy is a sure sign you have lost the argument.

Of course it isn't. Because it only puts on display on the "small government" types..that want to curtail government interference for the rich and powerful...and want it for those without that wealth or power.

No logical fallacy here..what's here is the gross hypocrisy that is the conservative mindset.

Anyone, someone, please explain why an Oil company drilling American oil, will be willing to sell that oil cheaper to US customers than to world market customers.

They are not doing that now, so why would they in the future? Especially if demand is dropping in the USA. (which it is).

Do you really think that oil companies give a rats ass about how much you and I pay. When they are posting record profits. And selling plenty of oil in the world market.

Maybe a Repub president would put price controls on oil. Is that why prices would be cheaper under a rethug?

What you dont get is that is only a small part of the overall equation.

If you did your post would be absent.

More supply means higher prices, he figures. LOL

Since oil wells take 5 to 10 years to start producing, who do you think is responsible for the increase in domestic oil production?

Ouch!!!!

Now if Obama would do as Bush did, release federal lands to leasing, promote drilling and STOP the EPA from implementing regulations that shut down refineries.. GAS would drop to $2.00/gal!
Yeah.....sure.....

handjob.gif

Wait I figured it out. YOu rethugs think we are sitting on so much US oil that we will flood the market and drive prices down by putting out so much supply that prices have to go down.

Please don't tell me there are those that think that. No one is that stupid today. Are they?

It wouldn't dawn of a Leftist that Obama's tripling of the money supply may be a factor as well, for example.

Total bullshit. It takes 5 to 10 years to develop a field in places like northern Alaska. From the time of drilling a successful well here in the lower 48 to production is well under a year because the piping infrastructure is allready in place.

'Speculation' is just the market at work.

Then what in the hell you banging on Obama about. Or does Obama now control the commodity futures traders as well as everything else. Man that guy has a long reach.

Really? Well then, why don't you just explain what the major parts of the overall equation are, with links to back you up. What is absent is your brain.

The government should also NEVER EVER step in between Labor and Managment disputes.

Damn that Reagan and the air traffic controllers.

Damn this is harder than is should be.

The oil companies buy a lease for pumping oil on American land. They sell the oil on the world market.

How do you force the oil companies to sell cheaper to Americans. (why does no one answer this question??

He could tone down the rhetoric about military action in the middle east. The price of oil explodes when we put boots on the ground in the middle east. Right now there is fear that we will wage more war over there, and speculators are running to oil because of it.

If Obama took military action in Iran and Syria off the table, prices would come down a bit.

And that's not going to happen for several reasons.

1. Israel wants to make war on Iran.
2. The GOP wants it to be a wedge issue.
3. Iran really does want Nukes.
