Would You Remove?

In Virginia, there is a statue honoring a Confederate soldier who fought for the rebels in several major battles of the American Civil War. He was eventually killed at the Battle of Chickamauga. Would any or all here be in favor of removing this monument, given how much rancor has been generated over such things in recent years?
Why are they honoring a traitor and loser? Hell yes it should be removed.

The OP is a virtual lie. That particular soldier is worthy of respect and a statue, but the OP chose to not include that part of the story in order to elicit the response he got from you, and my initial response as well. The OP didn't even mention the soldier's name, also to elicit the response. Just more dishonest right wing bullshit.

Was he a confederate soilder? If so he was a traitor in my eyes and shouldnt have a statue. Honestly he could have a performed the holy ghost of all holy ghosts out there on the battlefield but if he was fighting for the side that wanted to keep my ancestors enslaved there is no way I would approve of or support him having a statue on publicly funded land. Now if someone wants to pay for that shit out of their own pocket I would have no problem with it.

Where is the statue and when was it erected?

1965

Fredericksburg
Just in time to show they were pissed off by the civil rights movement.

No reason to honor treason

How does your foot taste?
Nothing I said was wrong.

You should probably answer your own stupid question

You have effectively demonstrated your lack of character.

You reveal more than enough about yourself in your poor response.

Some of us would but not all of us. You first.

To remove the statue would be akin to the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and ISIS destroying ancient historical monuments.

I know the Democrats are anxious to sweep their history under the rug but like they say, "Those who don't remember the past are doomed to repeat it."
That’s the proof we need right there. Republicans love to say those racist southern democrats owned slaves but notice it’s republicans today who want to protect their statues and you who call them heroes and patriots. You must be a Democrat

How?

No...............you can't erase history...............and in the case of the battle of Fredericksville it is probably the man who gave water during the night to wounded union soldiers..................

He couldn't stand the moaning and yells...........He took water and went from soldier to soldier giving water ..............neither side shot.........both sides knew what he was doing.

How does it feel to post such a disingenuous OP? Why are all right wing threads either a blatant lie, or a misrepresentation of facts to the point of being a lie?
Was there a point unkotare was trying to prove?

So should the statue be taken down or not unkotare? And why?

Does anyone know what unkotare thinks?

Yes. It was put up in the 1960s for racist reasons

The people who put it up said this to you?

If not, then you are assigning intent to people you don't know for the purpose of your own hatred. Kind of cancels out your entire opinion on the matter.

People put up monuments for many reasons. Ripping it down b/c someone is or might be offended is foolish.

What did the soldier do that earned him such a honor?

Nope. Not even if it was in the front yard view of the NAACP. Statue hystria is so last month.

Silly Jilly we can always count on you posting CNN commentary.

The KKK has a membership of about 500 people. Yet you think southerners who vote R are KKK members.

Math is ALSO a weak subject for you.

Love you babes!!!
