Wondering? What's Important?

Good India, bad Iran.
India shows it wants to participate in the global system of prosperity, security and cooperation. Iran shows it wants to sponsor terror, spread WMD and weapons tech all over the world and that it has grand imperial designs on the Gulf States and Saudi.

One earned its right to nuclear energy and weapons, the other hasn't.

India is a natural ally of the US. If it had not been for Nehru's foolish policy of the non-aligned countries in the Cold War, we'd already have a relationship with the Indians as good as the one we enjoy with the Japanese.

We can either do what must be done to enter into an alliance with a country of a billion (more than that now) people who share many of our values, who are capitalists, who like freedom, who are threatened (even worse than we are) by Islamic fundamentalists, who have a higher calling to defend the basic human rights and interests America also does (freedom of the seas, freedom of the people, etc ), or we can kiss it away because a bunch of people don't realize that treaties like the NPT and their ilk are outdated and not suited for the new 21st Century.

Welcome to the Future. Get on board and contribute, or get off and throw rocks at the project and this country's future. This is Bush's most important foreign policy achievement. And I'll be damned if some hack like Ted Kennedy or John Kerry is going to be allowed to torch it.
