“Twenty-three percent of the youth that applies are completely disqualified for medical reasons, obesity, addiction, and stuff like that,” said Blake Cantrill, a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army.

Experts and senior military leaders point to the perennial factors of competition from the private sector and a dwindling number of young Americans both qualified and interested in military service.

None of them pointed to any contributing factors about that WOKE bullshit you right wing clowns are spewing. It's based on opportunity in the private sector, job market, etc.

Actually, there have always been gays in the military, and the military only went after them when those jobs were at a premium. During Vietnam, for instance, discharging a gay soldier was at the discretion of the commanding officer.

Actually, most people who joined did so for some kind of benefit- college education, vocational training, or often because no one else was hiring. Most of the guys I went to basic with and served with were from very poor backgrounds. They were also disproportionately minority. When I was in, it was still a policy for judges in Jesus-land to force their delinquents to enlist rather than go to jail. (Big surprise, they often had disciplinary problems when they were in. Imagine that.)

No, the main reason why the military has had recruiting problems is 1) An endless war that has been going on since before they were born has taken the sheen off that apple and 2) There are better opportunities in the private sector that don't involve abusive drill sergeants and explody things.

Funny thing about young people. They really aren't that homophobic. They grew up with Will and Grace and every other character on the CW being gay. This is why big corporations are rejecting Republican Homophobia and boycotting Florida... they know this is a loser strategy in the long run.

All these major problems just happened (by coincidence) when Dementia invaded the White House, but none of it is his fault. Expanding social programs that encourage people not to work didn't do it, reversing all of Trump's successful border policies was not responsible for the border problem, turning our military into a bunch of fruits and demanding they take the vax didn't have anything to do with our military problems, the private sector competing with government for workers was not Biden's fault, nothing is his fault.

So like I said, you Democrats are nothing but the party of excuses, and refuse to take responsibility for all your fuck ups. It's never your fault.
