Who knows? But there definitely should be.

Americans are ambitious people, we seek to be the top of the heap, A Number One.

Right now, there is a glass ceiling which seems to be preventing US citizens from reaching the top dog position in the RCC. Remove that, and lots of American men will see a future and pursue it.

The current Pope is a disaster for the global Church. Apparently part of the homosexual fraternity within the clergy, his moral compass is gyrating wildly as he pursues a disastrous path similar to the failed Episcopal Church in the U.S.

Rather than accepting reality and paving the way for women and married priests, he questions long-honored bible-based traditions regarding divorce and homosexuality. In true Leftist fashion, he abhors being "judgmental" more than evil itself.

If the U.S. Church were not so hamstrung by the pedo-scandal, we would be seriously considering a break with Rome over this horrible leader and his feckless moral teachings. "We" would demand, if not an American Pope (Cardinal Dan DiNardo), at least a Pope with a working moral compass.

He is Argentinian... what else do you expect?

Urban II was a tremendous pope, fought islamo extremists with a fantastic Crusade. Pius V was also tremendous, leading the RCC in prayer to provide the edge needed to beat the Jihadi at Lepanto.

There have been some truly fantastic popes

The current Pope is a disaster for the global Church. ...

And what is the name of your church? How are we Catholics, together with our beloved Pope Francis, able to to do something against your disaster?

Given the current confused state of the American Catholic Church, it would be best not to have an American Pope.

Will there ever be an American pope?

Yes. His name will be "Francis" (Latin: Franciscus) and he will enthroned in March 13th, 2013.

Pope Francis is an Argentine, not an American at all.

Uh, Argentina is in South America. Therefore Argentines are Americans.

America is an idea and an ideology not just a geographic location. If someone is a hardcore ultraliberal, they aren't really America, even if they grew up in Kansas or Alabama. Congress use to have a committee which investigate un-American activities, they weren't looking at where people were from.

The USA is basing on the idea of the enlightenment - is a child of Europe. America is the name of a double continent. The "new world" an expression for a kind of new creation. The "always new - forever young" philosophy of the USA looks in my eyes sometimes a little senile - but is fascinating too.

What you say here is a result of a political system, which the USA got from England. You are a dissense democracy (the winner takes it all) which has very big problems to find compromises in political questions. Meanwhile this system shows a racism like phenomenon and the political parties "republicans" and "democrats" split the USA more and more in irreconcilable parts.

Congress use to have a committee which investigate un-American activities, they weren't looking at where people were from.

Thought Mr. McCarthy is dead.
