He opposed “partisan witch hunts . . . We need to look forward as opposed to looking backwards . . . Nothing will be gained by spending our time and energy laying blame for the past . . . we must resist the forces that divide us, and instead come together on behalf of our common future."

Is this the language of a Republican candidate whitewashing Trump’s actions regarding the January 6 insurrection? No, they are reasons given by President Obama as to why he did not prosecute CIA agents and their superiors who engaged in torture or approved it in the post 9-11 war on terror.

If a Republican other than Trump wins the 2024 presidential election, Obama’s comments will give him or her the perfect rationale for pardoning Trump and even others convicted for their involvement in the January 6 upheaval.

Furthermore, Obama’s failure to take the torture issue to court tacitly let stand the argument that CIA agents were following the legitimate legal advice of John Yoo, the deputy assistant attorney general who drafted the memo that redefined torture as “enhanced interrogation techniques.”

If CIA agents received immunity after following legal advice, then, Trump’s lawyers might argue, the former President should also receive immunity after following legal advice that his efforts to halt the election certification were legitimate.

Obama was referring to the fantasy witchhunts the GOP carried out.
He was also referring to not going after people for following the orders of their superiors.

If you think the criminal investigations and indictments of Trump are "partisan witch hunts" then you, obviously, are the partisan.

Thanks for the reminder that the demafasict wanted to prosecute their political rivals well before trump. this assault on our republic with this political prosecution is nothing new…it is a last great desperate attempt to grab power as they know on the merits they will be crushed in a free and fair election as their policies have made our country worse off

Nope. Wouldn't be good for the country or Trump. Trump has had every opportunity to stop his behavior. He wants to take it to the limit.
He runs with that behavior, because he wants to be the center of attention at all times. From what I can tell, he's pretty damn good at it.

I'd like to see Mr. Trump sent up, then receive a full pardon from President Biden.
Joe said he was going to bring the country back together.
That would be something.

It would indeed be hard not to admire Biden at that point.

emphasis mine

Kind of funny, that you said that, when Mr. Trump is going to go on trial for that very thing.

Even people that don't support Trump think you people need to let it go. Y'all have the energy of a psychotic ex-girlfriend that can't get over it.

The Obama W.H. invited the parents of a freaking traitor who left his post in the Army and went over to the other side. The Obama W.H authorized the shipment of thousands of weapons to drug cartels in Mexico. Whatever Hussein said or did, it was justified by the media that never saw a democrat they didn't like.

Just think, if Trump had been able to let it go he wouldn't be facing the prospect of spending the rest of his worthless life in a federal prison.

Your lies aren't even clever.

You're actually an ignoramus if you think billionaire Donald Trump will go to prison over this.
Really?
Not a claim that Trump's innocent but that he won't go to prison?

And if he's guilty, as your remark seems to state, on what basis do you think he avoids prison?

His sincere regret?
His allocution to his crimes?
His apology to the American people?
