Why the Tea Party Failed to Produce a Credible Candidate

The Tea Party could never put forth a "credible" Candidate because no matter what candidate the Tea Party puts forth, they will be human and flawed. Because they exist in real life. And because of that the media, as well as the author of the article, will see these flaws and immediately cariature that candidate so that they become "uncredible" in their eyes.

In other words, they are begging the question.

Presidential politics is about getting the middle of the road voters. The TEA Party (I recently learned TEA is an acronym or at least was) isn't built to get those voters; it's a Rove-ian 50.1% strategy that they embraced.

I would also argue that we have been successful because we have successfully vetted our candidates. We aren't electing someone because they say "hope and change" without having a freakin clue who he is. Or sticking our heads in the sand when we learn that he is allied with violent revolutionaries who want to overthrow the Republic.

The Tea Party's power will not be in who we elect as President, but in staying actively involved between election where we can encourage or oppose good legislation. And also during elections where we can select good local and state representatives. We need people in state governments who will fight for state rights. Not only will that help us provide a check the Federal Government. It will also give us better pools of future candidates to choose from.

Keep fighting for lower taxes, living within our means, and eliminating bueaucracy no matter who is in power and we can make this nation better.

Na, im gonna call bullshit on this one. The tea party has only pulled the rhetoric to the right, last time I looked policy was still the same.

Not so....Romney is now not only going to waive Obammycare but he promised to also repeal Obammycare....'course with him you never know for sure....

This article is horrible and wrong on several points... The establishment republicans made Sarah Palin, the media made Sarah Palin, and Sarah Palin made Sarah Palin. Sure she had some tea party support but as their are idiots in ever political party, their are some who supported her obvious catering to them. I recall her rising prominence through being McCain's VP, hardly an anti establishment rise.

Second was the Bachmann part. The Tea Party did not endorse her, the tea party isn't unified like that to endorse her. I think the tone is too harsh on TEA.

The thing is, the TEA Party is less than 3 years old, and is facing a republican establishment that is dead set against them, even though they helped them take back Congress. Any politician seeking their approval is an oppurtunist.

The GOP Has always been this alliance between the rank and file out here trying to carve out a living, and elites in Washington. The same can be said of the Democrats, for that matter.

The GOP elite are intent on nominating Romney, knowing that they will alienate the TEA Party, Evangelicals, Hispanics, Women and probably almost cement a second term for Obama.
