Expecting GOP opposition to whomever he nominates, Obama will appoint someone whose failure to be confirmed can be cast as another example of Republican discrimination against minorities. Since SCOTUS already has three female justices and African-Americans overwhelmingly vote Democratic anyway, the greatest political mileage to be gained will come from complaining about a GOP rejection of an Hispanic Male nominee.

Roberto Gonzales notwithstanding, this can also be trumpeted as another attempt to break another glass ceiling imposed by Republicans to keep people of color out of positions in authority. Laugh if you like, but there are still plenty of voters who actually believe this crap.

So you're admitting that accusing Republicans of racism is a political ploy that you know to be untrue.

I hope he picks a guy with a funny foreign name. Conservative media will make fun of his name 24/7 like they did with Obama, and make the GOP look like xenophobe assholes if they don't confirm him or her.

Yes. Like pawns on a cheese board.

You nailed it, Staph. Beautifully done.

Are the nutbags posting here capable of any awareness at all?

The GOP leadership....and every remaining GOP presidential candidate has stated that they would not support any Obama nominee. That's all the evidence needed. These people are not intent on doing their jobs. The American people have seen what they need to see.

Shit....Kasich even said he doesn't think Obama should nominate a person EVEN THOUGH he said he would do so if he were in Obama's shoes.

How's that for perfection?

Shit....

I couldn't agree more.

P.S. Are you aware of Obama's position on this issue when George Bush was President?

Yes. Not even remotely similar.

LOL at the idea that Congress not doing its job is a scandal, given the number of budgets Harry Reid refused to even consider. If Congress was doing its job, Obama would not be able to implement crap that Congress didn't authorize. If Congress was doing its job, we wouldn't have our military in action without a declaration of war. If Congress was doing its job, we would have a budget publicly debated and passed every year.

Congress has not been doing its job for a long time. Why start whining about it now?

Well since the GOP has said it will reject Obama's nominee regardless of how qualified the candidate is- it doesn't really matter does it?

Obama MUST fill the vacancy with a Conservative Italian American male who can use the phrase jiggery-pokery in a sentence
