For many years now he exposes himself to attacks for his alleged failure to rein in spending and deficits. Why?
The US government spends less, as percentage of GDP, than other developed countries. The deficits are coming down on their own and the debt levels are going to be stable in short and medium terms.
We should worry about jobs, not the non-existing fiscal crisis.
Those are the things Obama should be stressing over and over again, untilled they become a common knowledge. Instead, he goes along with his opponents, agreeing that we have immediate fiscal issues, so he can be bullied for not doing enough!

Or maybe it's a cunning plot to keep rising taxes on the rich, using our perceived debt problems as the leverage? Mitch McConnell will be enraged
