My ancestors were here in 1640. They have fought in every war in our nations history. They moved west, some of them, anyway, with the frontier, and some were in the Oregon Territory during and some after the Civil War.
They saw this nation evolve from the state where only white males that were 21 years or older, and owned land, could vote, to the present state where all citizens above 18 can vote. They saw an agriarian backwater nation change to an urban economic powerhouse.
What you call socialism the rest us call a Social Contract. And I would further that contract in order that all in this nation have a better oppertunity to advance as far as they possibly can. It is my nation, and always will be. Rather than trying to make this nation unpleasant enough that those you disagree with politically will leave it, why don't you show where you ideas for this nation would make it pleasant enough for people to agree with you and stay?
Yep your prized social contract has given us alomst half of our citizens who lack the pioneering sperit of which you so proudly speak, and are prefectly content to sit on their collective asses and allow the productive provide for them. Of course I'm only speaking of the healthy capable people who refuse to educate themselvse or break a sweat to earn an honest days pay. We do have an obligation to those that are truly needy, but if they are capable then by God they have an obligation to uphold their end of the contract, by picking up litter if nothing else, or be left to fend for themselves.
