Why is it Necessary to Mislead

Why does it have to be "we don't pay nearly enough"? I don't read it that way. I do not agree with "one world" or with "'shared sacrifice'". We can easily do what the other countries are doing with some reform and better allocation of funds. Many of the European countries have handled their tax policies without taxing "their population to poverty", while several such as Spain and Greece and Ireland serve as examples of how not to do the programs. But we have a duty to the ill and the poor and the elderly, and we will shoulder the effort.

What you guys constantly leave out is the cost of the Military, the Troops and the Spook Ops.

Yeah..there is ALOT of misleading going on.

Of course we can always dsiarm like Carthagians, or Great Britain did and then allow our enemies overwhelm us. As history has shown Carthage was destroyed never to rise again. Britain was nearly overrun but for the assistance given to them by America.

Aah, as Neville Chamberlain and now Oblamer tells us, "Peace In Our Time".

Silly alert! Silly alert!!

wolfie, we spend more than the next 26 nations combined. We can find ways to cut back significantly without endangering our national security.

I agree, we spend way too much on foreign aid and military. Stop the foreign aid, bring all troops home and close all foreign bases. We could spend much less AND have the strongest military in the world right here at home. Need a foreign base, deploy a carrier group. Need more carrier groups, you'll have full employment here at home and still spend less. We don't need to be the welfare check to the world, we need to be Americans and take care of Americans. BTW I hate the new Navy commercial that calls the Nave "A global force for good" We are an American force for good.

Okay, where do you suggest we start?

in order to support one's position? USA Today published at chart purporting to show that the U.S. top income tax rate of 35% (now 39.6%) is substantially lower than those of France and Germany (45%) or Great Britain (50%). What was conveniently omitted from this chart was that the other countries' rates include social security and health care, whereas ours does not (nor does it include state income tax rates). When ALL of our taxes are added in, we are one of the most heavily taxed countries in the world. but that fact would spoil their dishonest narrative.

Okay, so what IS the top tax rate if all our taxes added in? And how it compares to that of other developed countries?

Damn, you say you can do math, now you ask someone to do it for you. REALLY?

The UK economy is struggling because the Conservative government keeps slashing its spending during the slump.

Explain how cutting the cost of government cause the economy to struggle?

Last I heard the government doesn't produce anything.

Government jobs, government projects, government money picking up private sector slack.

Spending makes the economy go round, when the private sector stops spending the worst thing the government can do is follow suit.

History really doesn't back that up, but you can believe it if you want. Take a peek at the recession of 1923, they cut government spending in half and got out of it much quicker.

#83 above is a start.

And it boggles the mind because we are the wealthiest country in the world, yet we still have people living on the street and children living in poverty.

How does that happen?

Any 1%er who pays 39.9% or more of his total income, salary compensation, bonus compensation, capital gains.... has a piss poor accountant.

hmmmmm..... :laugh2: looks like you left something out too

way too much to list here.

Most wealthy people and corporations pay so little in tax it is incredible...tax write offs and more..and citizens in America get tons of tax breaks too

and if your supposition were true...you'd have to look at what percenatge of national income is spent on what.

We have a huge defense budget. Other countries have huge social welfare systems....and the right, you included say you don't want us becoming European in that way.

So you are suffering a classic case of disconnect ...

Why is it you folks want to change the subject, the op is referring to the top marginal rates, whats with all the deflection?

Here you go. This is just the start. Do you have anyone in the Stan? I doubt it....

The Army stopped serving breakfast to troops in Afghanistan on 17 bases.

They still receive meals-ready-to-eat (MREs), but it is no less astonishing to see this happening. More bases will be following suit on February 1st. House Representative Bruce Braley (D-IA) has written a letter to Army Secretary John McHugh:

Recently, it has come to my attention that certain bases in Afghanistan have stopped serving breakfast to our deployed troops. I have been informed by a U.S. Army representative that 17 locations in Afghanistan have enacted this meal strategy. Instead of breakfast, the soldiers are now receiving MRE’s.

The reasoning behind this change has been described to me as moving from “a sustained presence feeding concept to that of an expeditionary feeding concept.” I am troubled that the Army would deny any deployed troops three meals per day,

The next step is limiting the number of bullets soldiers are allowed to shoot.

Let's get it all out on the table.
Libs feel we are still not taxed enough
and we just don't spend nearly enough on entitlement, education, infrastructure, social programs.

Libs I'm sure would rather all our money be handed over to government so they can give us what they feel is adequate for us to live a happy life in service of government.

It happens because of a lack of personal responsibility. The drunk/druggie that claims he is entitled to his fair share, the baby mammas who have all these kids for dead beat dads, the guy working a job designed for high school kids demanding a living wage to support 10 kids. Our country no longer strives to create the well educated worker that will create wealth through hard work and drive and ambition. We now hate the successful and because of their success are are someone to not be trusted with their own money. We are not a collective, we are a republic and should reward success not vilify it. Personal Responsibility, I guess it's old fashion now.
Should we stop Social Security? Yes but refund everything we paid into it.
Should we stop welfare? Yes as a permanent way of life. Make it a temporary program along with job training.
Should we stop most immigration? Yes, until we can solve the problems we have with unemployment now.
Make Personal Responsibility the American way

SS will not be stopped but should be modified.

Welfare will not be stopped, but mandatory job training should be part of the care if the returns of investing in it work out on the other end.

No, we will not stop most immigration.
