Why aren't Republicans benefiting from the fact that a majority of Americans are behind them

Just relax, the lowlife scum Democrats will be destroyed. The Dem party is circling the drain, after we deal with their RIGGING elections and CHEATING it's over for them.
yes, but not many in prominent places ARE dealing w/ it

unless u know something I don't. I don't have the opportunity to watch news as much as I used to, so ----

The answer is, there are many issues. The problem with both parties is you give them an inch and they take a light year. Every time they win an election by one vote they take that as a mandate to cram their entire agenda down the throats of the 100%. Abortion is the best recent example. Now I'm not going to get into a debate about abortion but Republicans scored a win with the SCOTUS decision and what do they do? They go way overboard, trying to eliminate it in entirety without any exceptions whatsoever, which goes clearly against what most Americans want. Democrats do the very same thing with other issues, including abortion with absolutely no limits whatsoever. Elections are winner take all, even if you only won by one vote.
I have not heard of any R going overboard about the LIFE (I won't call it Abortion) issue. As Barry Goldwater said (paraphrase) Extremism [so called] in the cause of justice is a virtue. I'll find the exact quote.

I didn't hear of anyone who wanted to end ALL abortions, even ectopic ones, which would truly be outrageous as your words would seem to indicate. But no one advocated doing that. Both mother and child die if ectopic pregnancies are not ended. All other abortions are NOT necessary and MURDER is always wrong. So i don't know what you are calling Extreme here, but it is the pro abortion people who are extreme, extremely diabolical

For every Independent vote they gained they’d lose three Conservative votes. Not good election math.
Most of the electorate is 'center right'. That's where the GOP should be. They would likely attract some Dem voters who are tired of the Left in their party.

Also, a move toward the center might have the same effect on the Dem Party. It would be good for everyone.

He's another goofy liberal who thinks Jesus was a socialist.
I don't recall Jesus approaching any politicians! Even he was scared of them?! LOL (just a joke, Jesus, You are God and not afraid of anyone)

Actually, this makes me wonder if I have gotten too deeply into current events and politics.. the fact that Jesus did not (as far as we know).

He did say to give to Caesar what is Caesar's and give to God what is God's and he spoke against certain evils going on in the "system" but that was about it..

And so, Republicans pander to the far right which wins GOP primaries and lose General Elections

The candidates they pick are just horrible

Jesus was a Liberal
He was crucified by Conservatives

Several Republican states have gone overboard, when Americans as a whole, favor pro choice with limits. Now I'm not going to get into an abortion debate, I'm just saying that public opinion is nowhere near where some Republican states have gone, which helped hurt Republicans at the polls. I totally understand that their values are their values and I actually agree with many but many voting Americans voted regarding this issue. That's just a fact.

This is just NOT true. Most Americans are against abortion after something like 10 weeks. A majority say there should NO abortion after that. I myself and many others say there should be NO abortion PERIOD except for ectopic pregnancies and even there, modern tech should be able to implant a removed-fetus into a surrogate or whatever.. They manage to do every damn thing else, a lot of unethical things they shouldn't be doing but I guess saving life is not exactly any scientists' --or the med profession's priority these days. In any case, this is not (my comments are not) to get into the abortion issue but to point out that politicians rarely go along w/ what Americans believe or want. That is why we had Roe for SO long. Thank God all over again Roe is DEAD like all the 63 million children it took from us, each unique and un-repeatable, never to be known by anyone.

If you don't care about the unborn and are cavalier about the abortion issue (and frankly everyone who supports any kind of abortion falls into that category according to people like me) then consider this: Your life is not of value either (when society accepts the murder of the most helpless and most innocent among us)

That's what I said. Most Americans are pro-choice with limits such as 10 weeks, rape, incest, and life of the mother. Republican states have gone way, way, beyond that, basically banning abortion altogether.

good for them.

:WooHooSmileyWave-vi::WooHooSmileyWave-vi:

When I say politicians rarely go along with what Americans want, that is NOT at all to say that what Americans believe or want is always correct or even close to it. It is just better, usually, than what the crooked DC people plan for the nation. . usually.

I heard somewhere this quote, can't recall who said it but: The majority is the biggest lie in the world.

not sure what the person meant by that but the way I take it today is that.. well, in my theological studies, and most importantly, in my EXPERIENCES in life (which inform me that almost everyone disobeys God on a regular basis and couldn't care less about such), I have learned (or surmised) that the majority of people end up in Hell

You have to appeal to the majority if you want to get elected. After you're elected you can break all the promises you made to them.

Which is why I have very little faith or interest in representative government… too many wastes of flesh and oxygen getting a say in things.
