Why Are You A Communist?

We have lots of them here. I wish I had a bitch, name-call, and cliché filter for this thread since I'd like to hear some honest introspection rather than all the same old saws. So what attracts you about communism?

Who says anyone here is a communist? YOu're offering us a 'when did you stop beating your wife' fallacy. A classic 'loaded question' fallacy.

Factually establish your assumptions first.

You forgot "paranoid" fallacy, Skylar.

I'll stick with the 'loaded question' fallacy to start. Factually establish your assumption first.
You're obviously one of them, otherwise the thread wouldn't interest you so much. Are you ashamed to admit it or something?

Laughing....so anyone who asks any questions, asks for any evidence, must be a communist?

Well, if you can't name a communist, perhaps you can make one up! Which begs the question: if you're just going to invent communists when none appear, does anyone else even need to be here?

Still deflecting, aren't you? If you're not a communist, why are you so defensive? If you are, why are you reluctant to discuss it?

And by deflecting, you mean asking you 'what communists'?

Clearly, the OP is addressing communists and asking why they are communists. Why did you come here if you didn't feel it was aimed at you?

I have heard communism and socialism both defended here.

Reasonable question to ask if anyone believes communism actually works.

It is interesting to see who shows up on a thread that personally is addressing them. I've seen it happen on my own threads many times. Bring up Satanism and all the satanists come out of the woodwork and start responding. Bring up any topic and you'll drive whats there to the surface.

The truth is Skylar appears to be young and quite unaware of what Communism is all about. (a trip to a North Korean death labor camp would cure her)

Ditto for Islam. She has apparently bought into the pseudo version. That happens with young people educated in our schools today because we have more Marxist professors in our universities and colleges than any other nation on earth.

Nothing about communism attracts liberals. Communism is conservative.

Socialism is liberal. More people (preferably everyone) have some say in how the economy works. Democracy is liberal. More people (preferably everyone) have some say in how the government works. "Democracy," said Marx, "is the road to socialism." He was wrong about how economics and politics interact, but he did see their similar underpinnings.

Communism is conservative. Fewer and fewer people (preferably just the Party Secretary) have any say in how the economy works. Republicans are conservative. Fewer and fewer people (preferably just people controlling the Party figurehead) have any say in how the government works. The conservatives in the US are in the same position as the communists in the 30s, and for the same reason: Their revolutions failed spectacularly but they refuse to admit what went wrong.

A common mistake is to confuse Socialism, the economic system, with Communism, the political system. Communists are "socialist" in the same way that Republicans are "compassionate conservatives". That is, they give lip service to ideals they have no intention of practicing.

Communism, or "scientific socialism", has very little to do with Marx. Communism was originally envisioned by Marx and Engels as the last stages of their socialist revolution. "The meaning of the word communism shifted after 1917, when Vladimir Lenin and his Bolshevik Party seized power in Russia. The Bolsheviks changed their name to the Communist Party and installed a repressive, single-party regime devoted to the implementation of socialist policies." (quote from Encarta.). Those socialist policies were never implemented.

The Difference Between Socialism and Communism

I'm not a communist. I don't know any communists. I imagine Communists are attracted to Communism for the same reason other people are attracted to their political leanings. It's their preference.

Stupid question btw.

The losertrian on this board believe communism is investing in infrastructure, science, education, etc. These people wish for huge corporations to rule our country pretty much unregulated...Anything less = communism.

Pretty sad,

Then perhaps you can apply your experience and age and answer my question: 'What communists'? The OP begins with the assumption that there are many communists on the board.

Who?

Or did that one word just confound all your vast pools of experience?

I'd like to say "it beats working" but I just can't lower myself to the point I need a bottle of vodka a day just to deal with the emotional pain of sucking so much

Haven't met a real communist in USMB yet. But considering out butthurt so many of our Rrrrrrraging Rrrrrrrrresident Rrrrrrrrrighties are behaving in the big zoo, hope springs eternal.

Poppy cock. The OP clearly said there were many. You're not questioning the OP are you. Because this thread has already concluded, through vast pools of experience....that anyone who questions the OP, asks for evidence, even thinks too hard about its accusations must be a communist.

Who on this board is a plutocrat?

Just peasants for plutocrats here...

The problem is that they haven't been informed yet that the system the Progressives are progressing toward is Communism, so of course, they will deny and spew back at you.

Once they're informed, they'll, "oh yeah, I knew it all along"

It must be they lost faith in themselves and were convinced that true happiness can only come from an all-powerful government

Now Sweetie Pie, why are you a fucking idiot? Hard to find any Communists in Russia or China, let alone here. Your labeling of anyone that disagrees with your radical view of the world is simply an indication of your mental problems.

I just ran across this: You have to love how everyone is "extreme" in their eyes BUT THEM... people in this country better wake up

Top Communist Admits: Communist Party ‘Utilizes’ the Democratic Party – a Lesson for Constitutionalists

Communist Party USA, Chicago manJohn Bachtell, has admitted that his Party “utilizes” the Democratic Party “to advance its agenda.”

John Bachtell

Writing on the People’s World website, Bachtell explains that much of the left wants to abandon the Democratic Party (as much of the “right” wants to abandon the GOP) to form a radical third party.

In an article entitledA radical third party? I agree!Bachtell explains:

Certainly, there’s widespread disillusionment with both the Democratic and Republican parties. That’s reflected in the latest Pew Research poll: 38 percent of voters describe themselves as independent, 32 percent as Democrats, and 25 percent as Republicans. In 1991, the three were approximately equal.

While acknowledging that both major parties are heavily influenced by Wall Street, Bachtell sees a big difference:

However, it’s not enough to make sweeping generalizations about the Democratic and Republican parties. It’s true both parties are dominated by Wall Street interests, but it’s also necessary to see how each party differs, particularly their social bases and how this affects their policies.

While the Republican Party is led by the most reactionary sections of Wall Street capital including the energy extractive sector and military industrial complex,it also consists of extreme right-wing elements including the Tea Party, white supremacists, social conservatives, right-wing evangelicals, climate deniers, anti-reproductive rights groups, etc.

Meanwhile the Democratic Party is also home to labor, African Americans, Latinos, other communities of color, women, most union members, young people, and a wide range of social and democratic movements. These constituencies exert influence on party leadership and hold positions at all levels.

Therefore, it makes sense, according to Bachtell, for the Communist Party to stick with the Democrats until a viable third party is feasible. To Bachtell, progress towards socialism is possible only after the “right” is soundly defeated.
