Why are shows full of losers so popular?

they might not appeal to you but they sure as hell do to everyone else......i watched Cheers and Seinfeld.....out of those.....

Funnier than Seinfeld is "Curb Your Enthusiasm" with Larry David playing himself. TVGuide channel is supposed to be re-running all episodes from HBO, but they keep running the same goddamned ones over and over. The character "George" on Seinfeld was modeled after Larry David, who wrote both shows. George is supposed to be the resident "loser" on Seinfeld.

Seinfeld was well written and very funny. That one was popular because the characters were funny. I never have watched your other examples.

When I saw your post, I thought you were referring to reality shows like Hoarders, and shows like Judge Judy, who have mainly have losers on them.

Seinfeld characters were pretty much losers though. It was a dark comedy, nobody would want to be those people. Same with Cheers and House. I'm thinking that's what he means.

At the time Cheers was #1, we were going to a neighborhood bar just about the same as that one. There was the usual know-it-all (Cliff), the whiner (Frazier), the overweight I'm-between-jobs guy (Norm) who could almost always be found sitting on their favorite barstools whenever we walked in, like they lived there. Of course our bar also had among its regulars several men who, by closing, were puking between their legs hoping no one would see and would need to be escorted out, a talkative just-turned-21 guy who was always broke and drank off the generosity of others, an Elvis impersonator (who was really quite good), and a woman who had banged everyone in there (including my own husband). But the bartenders and waitresses made good tips and had lives, and they seemed happy enough. "Cheers" was probably the first reality show, without being called that.

It's very simple, people that define themselves as progressives are devoid of a sense of humor. They feel that it's beneath their attempts to be intellectuals. It's a pity really and ironic when you consider what amazing losers they elect to office based solely on what college they supposedly attended. I mean really, Robert Byrd?? Ted Kennedy?????? Barney Franks????????!!!?? Nancy Pelosi??????? Joe Biden??????!!!! John Kerry? AlGore? Hillary Fucking Clinton!!!??? It is understandable that those that are not brighter than average are probably curious why some "get it" faster than others. So you guess what it is like. You guess at most things. You are usually wrong.

You learned of these "others" at play and in their first years of school. Everyone competes to some degree so it was inevitable that those with less ability did what they could to defeat the "smart ones" by doing the things that came to them easily. You formed groups and shallow relationships to fit in. You announced that you and your group were special and that your company was desirable and established pecking orders and coveted the forced admiration of those in your groups. So your "leaders" turned out to be manipulative and bullies. Caught up in your social gratification you didn't even notice that the smart ones avoided wasting time in your company. Failing to get the desired act of phony interest in your self made status you found the smart ones were more easily labeled and ridiculed. Usually you were inclined toward sports and team activities to further your reputation as something special. The smart ones rarely participated.

It is the dull that worry about how they are defined...not the bright. Stupid people grow up trying to please others to get along which includes laughing at their attempts to joke and amuse. Stupid people are programed early on to laugh when others laugh. You are inclined to laugh at anything when prompted by the sound of another's amusement. You never challenge humor. It is one of your most useful tools in getting by and getting along. If you are offended by laughter aimed at something you care about you just keep it to yourself or ridiculously and with self destruction laugh along.

You do not do well defining smart people. Go back to you group where you belong. You are over head. Stick to what you do best. Sucking cock and back stabbing.
