Why are democrats holding our government hostage?

:lol::lol::lol:

If anyone is holding hostages, it's House Republicans. They KNOW this bill won't get throught the Senate; they KNOW Obama wouldn't sign it. They can pass a continuing resolution without their wet-dream idea that Obamacare will go away just because they voted to do it in for the 42nd time. They're trying to make a point...I guess. But the only message they're sending is that they're willing to risk damaging an already fragile economy just because they don't like Obama or Obamacare. Sorry, sore losers, but the ACA is law, deemed constitutional by the SC. Stop playing games, and start doing your fucking job.

and dems know pubs won't pass anything unless obamacare is defunded....

see...same thing, but you're just too much of a hack to see it

No, it's not the same thing. The ACA is LAW. It's not going away. The GOP knows this, yet they go forward with their absurd plan. You're too much of a blind partisa to see anything else. Anything else, douchebag?

hey dumbfuck, can the congress de fund something? yes or no.

Say something true, please.

Both party's were involved. There were amendments. There was crazy levels of discussion. The American people were given explanations. There was open debate.

The law was NOT passed by reconciliation. Budget reconciliation was used to amend it shortly after it was signed into law.

It is a LAW. IT IS NOT A BILL

But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it -- Pelosi, then house leader

Context is a bitch.

Change of Subject: Why would Nancy Pelosi have said `we have to pass the (health-care reform) bill so you can find out what is in it'?

It means she and the other democrats that passed this bill, did not read it and did not know what was in it, period. No matter how you and some asshole at the Chicago Tribune try to spin it......

In true democrat fashion, I blame Apple for my incoherent post above......

um, the pubs have the majority in the house

Which is only one of the three pieces of the puzzle that makes law in this country and the Democrats hold the other two.

You can't have tyranny by the minority. No government can function under such nonsense.

the prez merely signs laws, congress is split. why should the pubs cave to the senate and the prez when they have the majority in the house? they are doing what their constituents want and you're crying foul because you have a majority, barely, in the senate and the WH.

you can't have it both ways. we have three branches for a reason and this exemplifies that reason. the house is an important part of the legislative process and the pubs have the majority there. if the dems in the senate and WH want to hold the government hostage, that is on you, not the pubs.

Obamacare was passed by 3 branches.

What you desire is chaos.

Majorites don't want it repealed, either. It's staying.

52% is not a majority?

From your own link:

among those who oppose the law, 52 percent say they’d support Congress’ shutting down the federal government’s major activities in order to block it, as some House Republicans have suggested. (The net support for this idea, among all Americans, is 27 percent.)

I highlighted the relevant part. lololol

Actually, the latest Rasmussen poll from 9/17 shows a majority of Americans favor a gov't shutdown until ACA funding is stripped.

The more people find out about ACA, the less they want it.. it's a clusterfuck of epic proportions.

The OP's own link says 27%. That is not a majority.

no one said anything about polls NYC....why are the democrats holding the government hostage. care to address the thread?

Then tell me what your basis was for making this claim in the OP.

"The American people don’t want the government shutdown and they don’t want Obamacare.”

it was a quote from boehner, hence the quotes, if you had bothered to click the link you would know that.

That wasn't the question. Answer the question.

No kidding. These cretins were crying about 'obstructionism' by the Democrats every single day of the GOP majority in the 2000's...

,...and nothing the Democrats did even came close to this nonsense.

Why are democrats holding our government hostage?

This is a lie, and the OP is a liar.

Senate democrats and the White House are prepared and willing to enter into good faith negotiations with the House concerning funding the government, absent irrelevant, extraneous matters such as the ACA, which was passed by both Houses of Congress, signed into law, and upheld as Constitutional by the Supreme Court. Funding such a measure has nothing to do with the current budget considerations.

House republicans alone are holding our government hostage.

You do realize we have a democratic senate and democratic president, don't you? They are the ones running the show, not the crybaby republicans.

The only ones holding the nation hostage are the GOP terrorists.

and the dishonest hack shows his true colors. as i said, both sides are doing the same thing. you just want to believe your side isn't.

the gop is fully within their constitutional authority to defund obamacare. you can fuck off with your bullshit about lies. i merely used your asinine rhetoric against you and you call me a liar. guess what, you just called yourself a liar.

gee...who controlled the house back then dipshit

what you desire is to get rid of the third branch when your party doesn't control it. you hate america blah blah....

House Passes Spending Bill That Would Cut Health Funds

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/21/us/politics/house-spending-bill.html?hp

we now have a spending bill that will ensure the government does not shut down. all obama and the dems have to do is get over their ego and let the horrible obamacare be defunded. don't hold america hostage over a horrible bill that now even buffet says is a lousy bill.
Because dimwits are anti American socialist IDIOTS!!!!!

Hey, negative-brain, the House can vote to defund something, but that doesn't mean they'll get their wish. Are you done flailing around or would you like to cry some more?

I see you refuse to answer the question..

If all the Government except Obama-care is funded by a Republican Controlled House passed Bill and the Democrat Controlled Senate or the Democrat who sits in the Oval office blocks that Bill from becoming law... Who shut down the Government?

It really is a simple question with an equally Simple answer.

The ACA is law, not a "bill". Go back to Schoolhouse Rock.

I'll answer your question with a question...

If a majority Democrat controlled house passed a budget funding everything except the military or the government would shut down, who is shutting down the government?

so you can't answer the question, no surprise

btw...your comparison is apples/oranges...comparing the military with obamacare is absurd, further, obamacare is not even implemented yet

It doesn't matter if it is fully implemented or not. It is a law, passed by Congress, signed by the President and even upheld by the SCOTUS. The analogy holds for whatever law you want to use. If George Bush had any "signature legislation" I could use that as an analogy, but alas.

Use the funding of Iraq, Medicare Part D, whatever but switch it around and the GOP would be pitching a fit and falling into it about the treasonous, terrorist actions of the Democrats.

So...if a Democratically controlled House said that they would shut down the government if their budget, that did not fund some signature Republican legislation (if they had any), was not passed...who would be the one shutting down the government?

Majorites don't want it repealed, either. It's staying.

ABC again:

52 percent say they’d support Congress’ shutting down the federal government’s major activities in order to block it,

52% of the people that hate the law. That's not a "majority of people". 52% of the people that don't like the ACA (which includes people like me that don't think it went far enough) want the government shut down, not 52% of the respondents. Honestly...
