Why are corporations evil?

Corporations are not evil.

The influence they can now have is evil.

They are run by people and some people are good and some are evil.

Not all with massive money are angels.

Some are people who HATE America and the freedoms we used to stand for.

That is not the fault of the corporations. That is the freedom enshrined in the Constitution. Do I agree with the ruling? No. Do I accept it as granted in the document? Yes. Because the ruling is, technically, correct. It is now up to congress to limit the damage of the ruling - and the states to implement whatever measures they can to limit it.

And.... it is up to us to recognize bullshit when we see it. Intelligent voters are not swayed by advertising.

It's only technically correct if you believe that money = speech.

They have their interests.

You have yours.

I have mine.

Corporations are only "evil" when their interests conflict with the person who's calling them "evil".

Same with labor unions.

Technically corporations can't actually "be evil" they can only be "called evil".

Doesn't change the fact that they have the right to spend their money that Americans give them freely on whatever the hell they please, including political ads. If the corporation is evil... and stupid Americans that think they're evil is where they're getting their money from... the stupid American consumer base is just as evil. For (1) supporting them and (2) being dumb enough to believe their political ads.

Thus I concur with the statement... corporations aren't evil... PEOPLE are evil.

:clap2: Thank you. It's not the government's job to "protect us" from bullshit... we have to be smart enough to recognize it when we see it.

And what makes corporations any different than any other types of business in your assessment?

walmarx.jpg

Walmart has done as much as any corporation, since Sam left his company to his spawn, as any compay has to destroy the middle class of America and our vital manufacturing base.

Anyone that shops here is a shortsighted moron and actively participating in the dismantling of our countries strength.

I dont shop there becuase I dont like giving my money to China.

I try REAL hard not to buy imported stuff unless it is from certain countries that are nice to us in the international community. Sometimes its impossible to find a lightbulb made in the USA but if you look real hard some GE bulbs are (yea yea yea GE and Obama are in bed cant have cake and eat it).

I actually do check to see where things are made. Recently I bought a set of drinking glasses at Walmart, made in the USA, and at Sams Club a 3 piece frying pan set, made in the USA. However i had to go on line to find an American made pizza cutter.

All people intelligent or not are swayed to some degree by whatever information they encounter. The more times that information is repeated, the more effect it has. It does not matter the truth whispered into the storm.

Which corporations are run by good people and which ones are run by bad people? And who is to decide this?

With events the last few days it's very clear that some people thing corporations are the face of evil in the world. Why?

What is it that makes corporations so much worse than LLCs, Partnerships, sole proprietorship?

Also, what's so evil about profits? Why is it wrong for companies of any size and shape actually producing a profit?

profit is ok, but when it becomes greed it is bad.
greed is evil.

read the bible about greed if you believe in that stuff.

You obviously believe in it.

Manchurian Candidates
Court allows China, others stake in US elections
by Greg Palast

Link Excerpt:
The Court's decision is far, far more dangerous to U.S. democracy. Think: Manchurian candidates. I’m losing sleep over the millions - or billions - of dollars that could flood into our elections from ARAMCO, the Saudi Oil corporation’s U.S. unit; or from the maker of “New Order” fashions, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. Or from Bin Laden Construction corporation. Or Bin Laden Destruction Corporation. Right now, corporations can give loads of loot through PACs. While this money stinks (Obama took none of it), anyone can go through a PAC’s federal disclosure filing and see the name of every individual who put money into it. And every contributor must be a citizen of the USA. But under today’s Supreme Court ruling that corporations can support candidates without limit, there is nothing that stops, say, a Delaware-incorporated handmaiden of the Burmese junta from picking a Congressman or two with a cache of loot masked by a corporate alias.

is China evil or good?

I'm coming to this thread late and skimmed responses instead of reading each and every one, so I'm probably paraphrasing several of you here.

It has been my observation that each administration zeroes in on a villain of some sort and uses it to rally the people to some purpose or action. During WWII it was easy. The Axis were the villains. During the cold war it was the Communist menace. These were legitimate villains to freedom loving people.

With the cold war essentially ended when the Berlin wall came down, Bill Clinton shifted to ethnic issues like Bosnia and implemented the beginnings of a 'war on terror' with bombing raids in Iraq, Sudan, Yemen, et al. Who can forget the bruhaha of the aspirin factory bombing in Khartoun?

George W. Bush took the war on terror to new heights with retaliation in Afghanistan for 9/11 and then focused on Iraq.

Barack Obama, who may see himself as more Muslim than Christian, bends over backwards to avoid any language that would be offensive to or threaten Islamic leaders and seems to downplay or totally dismiss Islamic jihadists intentions to destroy the evil infidels in the west. To him they must be neither acknowledged nor addressed. Maybe he thinks if we pretend they aren't there they don't exist or at least he will not be expected to deal with them.

So what does he use for his villains? Wall Street and Corporate America, at least that part of it that isn't partnering with him to accomplish one of the most radical socialist agendas this country has ever seen. And of course the mainstream media has chosen to be his personal advocates and aid and abet him in convincing the left that corporations are evil and must be controlled.

In the "simple" world of Republicans, there are only two choices: Good and Evil.

Remember, it was "coporations who were against:

Minimum wage
Weekends
Health Care
Pregnancy leave
40 hour work week
Child labor laws
Holidays

The reason intelligent people are against or for the recent Supreme Court's ruling is because patriots don't want foreign money determining the outcome of our political process. As long as Toyota has a subsidery in this country, they can put up money to change outcome of our elections, actully, as much money as they want. The sky is the limit. They don't have to give it to the political candidate they support. They just put up ads or whatever for as long they want. Their political candidate can say, "See, I'm not taking money from that company". Companies don't have to give it directly to the candidate. Who knows what their "private conversation is about?"

I don't know if all of you are aware of what a Cessna 152, 172 family is but they are the single engine aircraft that you often see that along with piper made civilan aviation famous to the average pilot here in this nation. The advent of the Cessna 162 Skycatcher or the new version of the famous 152 serve to show just how low we have gone in terms of being able to do the things we once were able to do ourselves.

On 27 November 2007 Cessna announced that the Cessna 162 would be made in the People's Republic of China by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation, which is a subsidiary of China Aviation Industry Corporation I (AVIC I), a Chinese government-owned consortium of aircraft manufacturers.[16] By manufacturing the aircraft in China, Cessna reported that it saved US$71,000 in production costs per aircraft produced. A second reason cited for moving production to Shenyang Aircraft Corporation was that Cessna at that time had no plant capacity available in the USA.[17]

The decision to produce the aircraft in China has been controversial and Cessna has received a high degree of negative feedback from Cessna 162 customers and potential customers.[18][19]

The first production Cessna 162 had its initial flight at Shenyang Aircraft in China on 17 September 2009, with customer deliveries expected by the end of 2009

One of the reason I posted this was just to show that these sorts of things are not just limited to people like Wal-Mart

And what if we had a government who recognized WHY it was more profitable to both Cessna and their customers to manufacture a product in China rather than the USA? And rather than condemn that, what if they looked for ways to help American manufacturing enterprises stay here? Make it profitable, attractive, and desirable to keep production here? Instead they condemn, attack, accuse even as they heap on more and more regulation, taxes, mandates, restrictions, requirements, and controls that make it more and more desirable to pull up stakes and go elsewhere.

Without checks and balances corporations are potentially "evil" as their sole purpose is profit and damned be anything that gets in its way whether it is a person's livelihood, land, or clean air and drinking water, the bottom line is increased profits and all else be damned, that is why regulations are a good thing.

Wanna know what Seimens did with their profit? Matched contributions to Haiti relief fund over $500,000 in donations. They also provide good health care benefits and matching 401k's for the people they employ and they are NOT union.:lol:

And-- don't forget that corporations in the United states pay the 2nd highest corporate tax in the World at app 37%.

They also think that Christians are evil. My own church in one weekend gave over a $100,000 to the Haiti relief fund and as I mentioned in a previous post Seimen's, GE'S competitor gave over $500,000 to the Haiti Relief fund and neither of these 2 entities are done, they are still working on Haiti relief funds.

This post is important for all you libs who look to GOVERNMENT to do everything for you.

So for all of you who condemn Corporations and Christianity maybe you should think again.
