WASHINGTON – The White House is contradicting the NASA administrator's claim that President Barack Obama assigned him to reach out to Muslims on science matters.

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden recently told Al-Jazeera network that one of the charges Obama gave him was "to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science and engineering."

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday that such activities are not among Bolden's assigned tasks.

Why? You are dealing with the most incompetent administration in history. They are so afraid of their own incompetence that they wont make a move. So they will not release Obama's birth certificate or school records because they aren't sure how to spin them. THe result is they look worse than they need to.

While it is of course theoretically possible that Boldon simply fabricated the alleged "policy" to do a "feel good" outreach to Muslims, and that in making that stuff up entirely out of whole cloth he also attributed the touchy-feely "policy" to the President (possibly thinking that nobody would take much notice of his assertion anyway), it does seem much more probable that he spoke the truth and that the Administration denial was itself the lie. After all, that President Obama is a frequent liar is not exactly a new insight.

On the other hand, the Arab history of developing major advances in the world of math is sufficient to accord Arabs (as opposed to Muslims) due credit for the scientific progress of humanity.

What Boldon said may have lacked subtlety, but it is a far cry from being an insult to the Arab (or Muslim) world.

I wonder why the White House felt it necessary to outright deny the claim made by Boldon?

When some of our Apollo astronauts invoked a passage from Genesis around Christmas time (if memory serves it took place during the flight which preceded the first moon landing), there was a bit of a clamor from some overly-goofy liberals who contended that this was somehow a violation of the doctrine of the separation of church and state.

So, I'm pretty sure that NASA would never "reach out" to any particular "faith" but Muslims.
