Which state, Texas or North Carolina, will turn Blue first?

d
1,10, and 12 districts were created by Democrats.

This is not accurate. The districts were redrawn to include more democratic voters in 2010. Their Cook index scores all moved quite significantly further into the Democrat's column. The surrounding districts all became much less competitive and safer for Republicans.

The 2nd NC district is a prime example of this. In the 2010 GOP wave election the district "barely" went for the GOP's candidate (Ellmers), in 2012 it was much more safe despite being a much more friendly year for Democrats.

2nd District PVI ratings:
  • 2012: 40D / 60R
  • 2010: 49D / 51R

Also it's not just the three blue districts that make it gerrymandered, it's also how the other districts are drawn that crack democrat voters as well.
District 12 was drawn up by democrats in the 90's moistly blacks in that district looks like as drunk man tried to make a road and failed
tDCYwVx.png

That district helps Republicans win other districts, why would it be gerrymandered by the Dems?
Are you saying district 12 created by the demos in the 90's wasn't

District 12 was created by democrats to insure it would cover minority voters are you saying that is not gerrymandering by the demos

District 12 remained from the 90's until it was changed in 2011 you can't pick and choose on this so shut the hell up

???

That's exactly what I'm saying, the borders were redrawn in 2011...
So your complaining that the Republicans changed the gerrymandering of the democrats?

In 2012 the GOP lost the popular vote in NC for the house district but won far more seats then the Democrats, the Gerrymander the GOP did in 2011 is far far worse then anything the Democrats did.

Gerrymandered NC Congressional Districts

Cong2010_NorthCarolina.gif

I have seen some congressional districts which are nothing more than a narrow strip, perhaps a few blocks wide connecting larger areas that are quite distant from each other. I'm not sure this is what was intended when the whole idea of districts was first envisioned.

Sure Republicans do it and Demos do it.
But now it's wrong?

It's always been wrong, but now it is much worse than ever before. The majority party should never be able to change the playing field to hurt the other party. It doesn't matter which party that is. I've always advocated a non partisan commission, a panel of judges, or even a formula that takes into account how many people are in each area to set the district borders. What we have is just wrong for either party.

It's existed why are you whining about it now?District 12 for 12 years majority was minorities it was created by democrats.
Now why shouldn't the majority party be allowed to do this? OH that's right because it's Republicans. If democrats were in control you would say nothing at all.

Glad I got you over the fact that yes indeed democrats did get more votes, now moving on to your next excuse...

Total vote means quite a bit. If the map was drawn differently in 2012 the Democrats could've easily won as many if not maybe more seats than the GOP. Making it sound like the GOP has some "mandate" since they won so many house seats is a joke when the majority of people aren't even voting for them in the state.

Why do numb nutz think there are only democrats and republicans? Why do the mentally handicapped still not understand that there are other political affiliations that do in fact vote? Why do these retards think every democrat votes democrat and every republican votes republican every election?

Southern states are still traditionally Democrat. Always have been since before the Civil War. Up in KY the registered voters break down as 52% Democrat, 36% Republican. This matters more for local government, but for national office many of the Democrats can't stomach the Democratic candidates, so they either won't vote for anyone or vote for the Republican.
