When liberals face reality

And the next hurdle will be free internet. And the next one - cars. And the next one - home ownership... Oh wait.

Man - there isn't one thing the libs want people to work toward is there? "The problem with socialism is you eventually run out of other people's money to spend"

You know chanel, as someone that works with students, you should be keenly aware that the only REAL equalizer in our society is education...

Education is not the equalizer of society. It is hard work and self-determination.

Hard work and determination alone only creates loyal subservience...education creates OPPORTUNITY

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. devoted his life to issues of justice and opportunity. He taught us how the lack of education meant the potential of millions of children could never be realized. King often referred to education as the great equalizer.

As an educator, I know that education is the best equalizer. Education serves as a bridge between despair and hope. It allows everyone, regardless of their background, the opportunity to achieve on the basis of merit. And those opportunities increase with the amount of education a person can access and obtain. College graduates earn almost twice that of high school graduates, have greater purchasing power and produce higher tax revenue.

Affordable education is the next hurdle we need to attack Outside of helathcare, nothing has gone up in cost as much as a college education. While healthcare can point to expensive new medical procedures, there is nothing radically different in our education system to justify the outlandish costs.

Why does a single class cost $3000 ?

When are we getting affordable healthcare?

You are aware that the SCOTUS has ruled that universities do have the legal right to discriminate in admissions, right?

I think he's arguing the moral issue rather than legal.

No, I'm arguing the legal issue. What Si doesn't understand (due to ignorance or a desire to be ignorant) is that there is a different between policies to ensure diversity in the student body and active discrimination against certain groups.

Can you provide a quote from JFK that states that the we should be taxed to 'help the many who are poor'? I help the poor, I'm even part funding the daughter of a friend through college.... It's charity, not taxes that should help the poor. We should help others because we are decent people - not because a bunch of whiny liberals tell us we have to.

How we treat our citizens is a reflection on our society. Taxes are there for the good of all. Each specific program may not benefit you but are there for the greater good. Don't doubt for a minute that the majority of our tax legislation benifits the wealthy

But Kennedy didn't say we should tax people to help the poor. That's just whiny liberals with their usual idiotic comprehension skills.

I have no objection to taxes to pay for anything covered in the Constitution. Other than that, fuck off. If I choose to help my neighbor - I do it because I am a decent person. I'm sick of being told by fucking assclowns that I have to pay more for those who are too fucking lazy to help themselves. You want what I have - do what I do - work!

"Nearly 50 years ago, a famous American gave a speech that advocated the spreading of the wealth."

And I quote:

"A few families are fabulously wealthy, contribute far less than they should in taxes, and are indifferent to the poverty of the great masses of the people.” “A country in this situation,” he went on, “is fraught with continual instability.”

Now you may ask yourself, what the fuck was JFK thinking? Except, it wasn't JFK who said that. It was then POTUS, Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Damn whiny Liberal he was.

And I'm sick of my f_cking taxes paying to protect your ass from criminals that are the byproduct of self centered right wing policies ...

BTW assh_le, more than half the poor people in this country are children, elderly and disabled... So they should be forced work to survive?

You right wingers are scum...

What program is restricted in the Constitution? Are you saying that anything that was not envisioned in the late 1700s can't be covered?

Our founding fathers gave the courts the power to interpret what was within the bounds of the Constitution. You, as a citizen have a right to take up any perceived constitutional infringement.

It reflects well on you that you help your neighbor. But what of the neighbor nobody likes? What about the neighbor who belongs to the wrong religion? What about the neighbor who is gay?

Who is there to help them? What is wrong with the government helping those who otherwise may not get helped?

Actually, interesting tidbit about the Homeless:

National Coalition for Homeless Veterans - Background & Statistics

Although accurate numbers are impossible to come by -- no one keeps national records on homeless veterans -- the VA estimates that 131,000 veterans are homeless on any given night. And approximately twice that many experience homelessness over the course of a year. Conservatively, one out of every three homeless men who is sleeping in a doorway, alley or box in our cities and rural communities has put on a uniform and served this country. According to the National Survey of Homeless Assistance Providers and Clients (U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness and the Urban Institute, 1999), veterans account for 23 percent of all homeless people in America.

Plenty suffer from things like PTSD and other mental health issues, and the VA doesn't help in that arena all the time:

VA Doctor Discouraged Post-Traumatic Diagnoses - Email urged staffers to save disability costs

Personality Disorder – Not PTSD says Military « Oldtimer Speaks Out

"Personality Disorder" :cuckoo:

Imagine the good that could be done if all the salaries were just put together and meted out as needed. Oh what a wonderful world!

I know many well educated people that lack self determination and a desire to work hard. They are pretty worthless. Not much of an equalizer. Some I imagine inhabit this very board.

Taxes are for the good of all? Giving $100m. to Louisiana, so their Senator will vote for health care is for the good of all?

Treating our citizens like they need supervision and can't properly use their own resources is a pretty poor reflection.

The majority of our tax legislation might be aimed at the wealthy, but it sure doesn;t benefit them the most.

You didn't have one accurate statement in the whole lot.

Why does a single class cost $3000 ?

Who's gonna pay for it? Your children? Your children's children? Your children's children's children?

Do you have any concept of the following words:

Debt
Bankrupt

Any grasp of the concept that this 'healthcare' bill is actually bullshit? It won't achieve what Obama set out to achieve with it. Do you understand that?

Seriously, I can understand why you want what you want but.... This is not going to achieve it and in 10 years time you will deny that you ever supported it.

Go back to your Glory Hole you bitch!

Where did I say anything about free education? I was addressing the escallating costs of education. Given that only liberals actually get educations, I know this doesn't concern republicans. But the costs have risen without any improvement in the product

well asswipe, if only libruls get edumacated then you DUmmies can pay for it,, it's yer problem,,

Because dumb fucks like you will pay it.

Or it could be because all those poor kids you liberals whine about helping so much are getting free educations while you are picking up the tab while whining about it.

Liberals are quick to ask someone else to pay for something but when its their dime, they cry, whine and protest.

What planet do you live on where everyone gets a free education? Typical fuck-you response from conservatives>

Fact is, todays kids and their "free educations" end up graduating with $60,000 in debt. F
ine way to start your life

Yes and when you tax and spend libruls get through with your entitlement bullshit you kids and grandkids will be born owing 500,000 dollars.. now ain't you sweet?

I will keep my generous salary and continue to contribute my taxes to the good of all. Yes this includes education, healthcare, welfare, social security and security
