What's the most damaging thing Republicans have done in the last three decades?

Funny you just hit what the Dems do right on the nail head, interesting? So both parties do the same things? But the Dems are just different right?

Yes, the Democratic Party is much different than the Republican Party; suggesting they are the same is one more hackneyed misrepresentation from the non aligned right; a group which seems only to be for Guns, and against most everything, in particular the rights of those who think and hold opinions which scare them (i.e. equal rights and pay) and the right to vote unencumbered by political machinations.

The "non aligned right"? Heh... is that the new black? The Democrats and Republicans like to bicker over who gets the spoils, but on the issues that matter most to me (individual rights, equal protection, limited government) both parties are dominated by corporatists.

Would you like to comment on which party supported and which did not the Equal Rights Amendment, the rights of gay and lesbian patriots to serve in the military and to marry; the rights of women to exercise their right under Roe v. Wade and which party has a big tent and which only pretends it does?

Both parties are beholden to corporate bribes, but who supports CU v. FEC and McCutcheon v. FEC?

Not really, no. Those are, historically, trivial issues when compared with the fundamental shift in government that both parties are pushing.

Corporatism has nothing to do with "corporate bribes" (that's merely corruption).

The patriot act,was by all reason the worst legislation put forth, they also had overwhelming support fro the other side of the fence to get it done. Home land insecurity along with it.

"You are either with us or you are with the terrorists."

George W. Bush.

That..was some powerful rhetoric. Coupled with the Bullshit he was spreading about a possible Al Qaeda/Iraq nuclear strike?

Yeah..politicians thought that making the wrong decision on this..would kill people.
And Benito Mussolini declared in speeches across fascist Italy: "O con noi o contro di noi"—You're either with us or against us.

Exactly. Benito would have been a Republican.

What's the most damaging thing Republicans have done in the last three decades?

That's easy.

They lost the 2008 election.

Remember McCain? Graduated 5th from the bottom out of a graduating class of 899? Remember him?

Bomb bomb bomb....bomb bomb Iran?

He wanted to invade the entire Middle East. He was part of the Keating 5. He started the Forestall Fire. He had zero ideas about what to do with the crashing economy. He wanted Sarah Palin as VP. He said if you give too many benefits to the military, they won't stay in the military.

Yea, he would certainly have done way, way more then Bush. Way more! I think with McCain as president, the country would have been so shocked at the kind of president he would have made.

You know what they call the person who graduates last in their class at med school?

Doctor

.

Idiot. No one who graduates last in their class will become a doctor.

4 years under grad
4 years graduate school
3 to 7 years residency
then they can apply for a license
and some states require continuing education

You don't just go to college and "bam", you're a doctor.

That's the problem with education and right wingers. They just don't know what it takes. Remember, these people think "Granny" was a "doctor".

After watching Tony Blair on Meet the Press today, it's possible invading Iraq was one of the worst things Republicans did. It took him forever before he would admit that invasion destabilized the Middle East, but he wouldn't admit any fault. He had a very confusing message of "we can't help these people because they are too indoctrinated" and "we need to stay to keep things stabilized".

Basically saying leaving isn't an option but staying does no good.

The degree granted at the conclusion of the four years of study in Medical Scool is Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) or Doctor of Medicine (M.D.).
If you graduate Medical School you are still called Doctor.

You are wrong again ... As usual.

Also, the testimony he gave to the grand jury was never used in court. So whether or not he lied in that testimony, we will never know.

Yes we do know,he was fined several hundred thousand bucks was disbarred, for the crime of purger y,and obstruction.

His testimony under oath was latter proven false,a crime was committed.

Allowing Dubya to pretend to be a "Conservative"

George Bush was GOP conservative policies on steroids. He did what he had been taught since being a child. Republicans can't run on policies they believe no one would be dumb enough to follow. Bush was dumb enough. Redistribution of wealth to the top 1%. Exploding deficits. Unpaid for wars. Trickle down. Anti science. See?

You are only guessing. Do I really have to "school" you? Only 40% of medical school openings are filled by Americans, the rest are foreign. And only half of open slots are filled. Why? Because no one wants to be a doctor? Hardly. It's because the academic standards are so stringent, that only the very top of the class of seniors are accepted. Slots are left unfilled rather than take the substandard.

Believe it or not, there are some jobs that remain unfilled rather than take just anyone who happens to be standing there when the opening becomes available. The way things work and the way right wingers imagine they work are so often at odds.

Modern conservative policy. This isn't the party of Dwight D. Eisenhower.

My General Physician is from Romania ... Didn't go to college ... But was accepted into medical school somewhere in Pennsylvania.
After graduating medical school he worked under the supervision of a practicing physician to achieve the required hours necessary to apply for and achieve a license to practice.
He and his wife (also a doctor) agreed to work in our small community for 10 years in exchange for citizenship and have completed their required time.

They remain here because they like it ... And you are dead wrong across the board about what is actually required to become a Doctor and Practicing Physician.
As usual ... What you want to belive ... And what is fact are two different things completely.

Bush was to the Left of Bill Clinton, Mr 6%

Every freaking Military adventure in the bloody 20th century happened during a liberal democrat administration. Woodie Wilson told American mothers that he would never send their sons to fight in a foreign war and then he (or his wife) sent the Doughboys to save France from the Hun. FDR had no sustainable foreign policy in the 30's and appointed an old Soldier to be the front line commander of the area most likely t be attacked by the Japanese. "Dug out Doug" thought he was a special envoy and he lost his entire freaking army four months into WW2. Dumb assed high school graduate Harry Truman was busy downsizing the Military after WW2 and paying the Marines back for their uncommon valor by reducing the Marine Corps to nothing when he suddenly decided to send them back to Korea without permission from congress. Truman's timid handling of the Korean adventure led to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory with 50,000 Americans lost in three years. We don't even need to talk about LBJ's fake Tonkin Gulf resolution and Bill Clinton's bombing of a defenseless country to cover for his abuse of an intern. All in all the democrat adventures in the Military cost Americans about half a million lives. Bush followed the rules and democrats tried to undermine the mission in Iraq every way they could.

Getting accepted to medical school without a bachelors, if you are a US Citizen, would be next to impossible. The absolute minimum to even submit is usually a good mcat score with a bachelors that includes 3 semesters of biology, 3 semesters of chemistry, and 2 semesters physics.

Don't think I'd want a doctor that went into med school without having studied college biology & chemistry.

Some say it was invading Iraq. Because it destabilized the middle east and cost America the moral high ground. Then there is the three trillion cost and the many trillions more in the future because so many young Americans were maimed for life and they need to be taken care of. which time? first time we should have kept going and finished off Sadam then.

Some say it was the deficit they created with the unpaid for wars and the massive tax cuts with most going to the very rich. uhm, obama outspent them all

Some say it was the redistribution of wealth to the top 1%. this is utter nonsense.

Some say it was the millions of jobs moved to China. clinton signed nafta, that was the worst of them all.

Some say it was all the fear tactics. That terrorists would be in your back yard and so on. utter non-sense

Some say it's the desire to arm everyone and all the resulting deaths. this is you trying to out dumb yourself

Some say it was when they undermined the Justice System by replacing all those veteran lawyers with Christian College graduates. pathetic

Some say it's been this terrible war on science and education. monopolies are bad right? Then the government monopoly on education is bad, proof is how bad our schools are.

Some say it's this hatred for the middle class and the poor and minorities. another idiotic pile of non-sense.

Some say it was the apology to BP and blocking the ability of the government to investigate BP. simply not true.

Some say it was ignoring nuclear weapons in North Korea and the Russian invasion of Georgia. so you want us to go to war. Baby killer

Some say it was working against the president blocking him from fixing any of their debacles obama has the highest bill pass percentage of all time AND he's made it worse.

The true evil to come from them was the Patriot Act, but you didn't list that b/c obama put his name to it, even though he lied and said he would get rid of it and actually expanded the powers of it.

pity, you had a chance to be realistic, but failed b/c you shovel the spin and not the facts

It's hard to choose any one thing. So many of their policies have been terribly damaging. The fact that Republicans have been anti education in their states and anti health care and are now trying to lure liberals and Blue State business could be the worst. Now you have an armed population that have nothing, no where to go and have been betrayed by their leaders. I suspect Red States are going to be explosive in the next 10 years.

It's a tossup between wrecking the US economy again (first time was the great depression), allowing bush to play commander in chief in Iraq, or allowing 9-11 to happen.

Early in Clinton's first term democrats conceived the idea that everyone should be able to achieve the American dream by owning their own home regardless of their ability to pay the mortgage. Democrats intimidated banks with the threat of civil rights litigation if they didn't comply and sign off on bad loans. Democrats stacked Fannie Mae with no show jobs and political appointments and bad loans were bundled up with good loans and sold back to lending institutions as good loans. The scam lasted about a decade and when the democrats controlled both houses of congress in Bush's 2nd term the unthinkable happened. Democrat Barney Frank told America that Fannie was solvent while it was on the verge of collapse. Sure enough Fannie collapsed under democrat control and they ....guess what....blamed it on Bush.
