What's next for Venezuelans amid a duel for the presidency ?

Maduro is currently conducting live-fire exercises with his military.
Columbia will let our troops stage there, as they are sick and tired of taking care of Venezuelan citizens that their socialist government will not.
Children are beginning to starve there.

Venezuela has plenty of resources and labor to be a prosperous country.
They have plenty of land to grow their own food.

Maduro redistributed the oil wealth to himself and his military and very, very little trickled down to the people.
A glimpse of a future USA under constant Democrat rule?

Sounds like we need to take a leadership role here. Think Trump is up to standing up to putin and China?

Me either
Do some homework before you talk please.
Class dismissed.

US sanctions are killing Venezuelans, says former UN rapporteur

US-Led Economic War, Not Socialism, Is Tearing Venezuela Apart
In reality, millions of Venezuelans have seen their living conditions vastly improved through the Bolivarian process. The problems plaguing the Venezuelan economy are not due to some inherent fault in socialism, but to artificially low oil prices and sabotage by forces hostile to the revolution.

And Venezuela is one of those countries. Saudi efforts to drive down oil prices have drastically reduced Venezuela’s state budget and led to enormous consequences for the Venezuelan economy.
Another idiot claiming the failure of socialism isn’t because of socialism.
Again...Saudi Arabia spends far more money on welfare programs than Venezuela ever did with considerably less oil revenues...and is doing far btter.

It's the MASSIVE (because SA is also corrupt) corruption
SA is a monarchy you moron. Everything is owned by a member of the royal family. Their entire existence is based on handing the peasants just enough to keep them from revolting. Are you seriously touting SA as a model of socialism that works? Holy fuck.

They had that just a decade ago. And promptly fucked it up. Luckily we made it through the obie years but still cleaning up the mess.

Yeah. Obama didn't have a mess handed to him.

No you stupid fucking moron.

I'm pointing out that as fucked up and socialist as SA is...they'e nowhere near as fucked up as Venezuela...because of the MASSIVE corruption in Venezuela. Maduro and his crowies have succeeded at what Republicans can only dream of. Stealing the entire wealth of a nation

Why does the US have sanctions against Venezuela?
It's an empire. It's what the ones running our government do. Ask Russia, Iraq, Iran, and the list goes on.
That's nowhere near an answer, Angelo. I'm curious.
Well it was my answer. If you want a different one I would suggest Googling -Why does the US have sanctions against Venezuela ?.
Does that mean you don't know? I can't imagine why else you would refuse to answer a simple question.

Here's some Qatari propaganda about Venezuela.
( the RT-bashers will understand )

Venezeula's president Nicolas Maduro is battling to remain in power amid a direct challenge to his leadership by the head of the country's National Assembly. Juan Guaido declared himself interim president on Wednesday, during anti-government protests in the capital Caracas.

Maduro ordered US diplomats to leave the country soon after President Donald Trump announced his support for Guaido on Twitter. But while regional powers Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Peru are among those joining the US in backing Guaido’s declaration, the Venezuelan military has continued to stand behind Maduro.

Russia, Turkey, China, Cuba and Bolivia have reaffirmed their support for him. Life has grown ever-harder for Venezuelans over the last year. Food and essential medicine is scarce, security is poor and hyperinflation has left people struggling to cover even the most basic necessities. All the while people are continuing to flee the country - the UN estimates 5.3 million will have left by the end of the year.

Economic sanctions imposed by the US have hit exports of Venezuelan oil and gold. Amid one of the biggest crises of Maduro's presidency and with the country at a crossroads, what lies in store for millions of Venezuelans ?

Nothing is next. The Military is with Maduro
Along with Putin and Xi. This is not hard to figure out.

Jo

"We're in conversation with major American companies now...It would make a difference if we could have American companies produce the oil in Venezuela. We both have a lot at stake here." John Bolton

More US backed regeme change for hegemony and oil just like everything else in this century.

So, sanctions: Official reasons: awhile back, we stopped selling Venezuela war toys because we didn't like who they were playing with. Then in 2014, Obama sanctioned 7 individuals who he said were involved in human rights abuses against the people of Venezuela. Now more sanctions for the same reason.

There's been a lot of diplomatic kerfluffle for years. We want Maduro out. Maduro is buddies with all our enemies, doesn't take to our meddling, and he's sitting on a bunch of oil we want to keep buying, so we'd rather he be gone.

Real reason: Oil. With possibly some national security concerns thrown in. We don't want big bad Russia opening a satellite in South America. At least that's what it sounds like. There is no way this administration is having the vapors over human rights abuses. None.

The real owners of Venz have been in Miami for a long time just like the real owners of Cuba they want these guys gone so they can get back to making millions off the USA while paying their idiot cousins $4/day

The tar sands have a much higher breakeven point and while Venezuela and Cuba gots lots of the stuff it ain't to profitable.
