should he win the Kentucky senate seat?

Here is what I would say:

Senator, you have cashed in your chips. The people of the great state (or is it Commonwealth) of Kentucky thank you for your faithful service for the last few decades.

You have nothing more to prove. The were validated beyond a shadow of a doubt that your service in the Senate as a member and lately as minority leader has done you proud and the people grateful.

Do you want to be a Republican Harry Reid? (Assuming that Republicans won the Senate). That is EXACTLY you will become if you insist on hanging onto the leadership. If you hang on as leader, you WILL become obsessed with power and will act just like Harry Reid.

So, be gracious and offer the Senate Majority Leadership to whomever wants it.

Discreetly and wisely support your successor but please, open the door to the future and do the right thing for the Republican party and the United States of America.

Due to the overwhelming lack of response to this post is it safe to assume that everyone is happy about the performance of Mitch McConnell in the last twenty years and hope that he carries on the same way?

Other than the fact that he is one of those despicable older white men, what's your beef with him?

I would tell to him to actually purse a fiscally conservative and small government path and not just talk about doing both. Words are wind.
