People have things more on their personal purview that are more difficult to deal with and that they are avoiding and generally that the way they avoid them is by adopting pseudo moralistic stances on large scale social issues that it makes them look good to your friends and neighbours.

Basically, they have things in their lives tricky to deal with, so they jump onto the band wagon on matters in the public domain to look impressive. Unfortunately, largest coal users on Earth, CCP China and India do not use this tech. It is widely used in USA/Western nations, often due to EPA regs.

Key point overlooked by many is you have to generate electricity to charge the lithium batteries of electric vehicles and wind and solar (false renewables) are neither reliable for on demand load, nor as environmentally friendly as touted. Along with extensive resource mining and processing, they have short use life spans which don't cover the production costs with enough electricity generated in their short lifespans.
