Virtually nobody here is a Republican. They're all "Independents," who vote straight ticket Republican and think the "Democrat party" is Satan incarnate.
I've seen a lot of this on other boards, it seems to come from a combination of hate for democrats and shame of voting republican so many times and being let down.
Well I think everyone feels a little let down by their party. Perhaps its because resources are more finite than anyone is willing to admit, and no politician has the ability to make everyone happy. Certainly playing a role is the fact that there are powerful people influencing the system who have a vested interest in policies that create human suffering.
In any event, if your expecting your Republican lawmakers to "Just lower taxes and balance the budget!," you are going to be disappointed. The system is far more complicated than the bumper sticker you picked up at Spencer gifts.
Oddly enough, there is a party for Del to join:Of course none of the political party's will let Del join.

Well I can at least say my eyes have been opened in a good way so far early in this thread. I figured on a political message board it would be a lot of loyal reps and dems.

I see you are starting to understand.
Are you lefties blind? Tea Partys were organized to improve the republican party because people didn't have "faith" that the party was headed in the right direction. Democrats have "hope". Translanted it means faith that the messiah with the big ears and questionable last name will lead them into the promised land.

Spending and debt have consistently skyrocketed in recent decades with Republicans in office. This is the party I'm told is conservative.
Wars, the Drug War, the Patriot act all have been enormously increased in spending or strength when Democrats are in office. This is the party I'm told is liberal.
This isn't some back-handed way of me promoting one of the smaller parties, but is the reality now that everyone is solely voting against the other party and not really for their party?
I just want to know who, on this forum, has faith in politicians in general regardless of party.
I mean haven't both parties proven their ilk to us all by now? Or are people blind enough to think that the dems or republicans are actually interested in looking out for us, the people?
Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one. -Thomas Paine

When are people from both parties going to wake up to the smelling salts? The people need either a 3rd party or better yet a (true) independent. Neither will happen-because the moment that comes up the Dems and Reps both band together to get rid of them.

Exactly, see Ross Perot, he wasn't even that big of a threat but the 2 status quo parties made sure to nip that "problem" in the butt before any real potential change could take place.
