White House Misses Deadline for Sondra Subpoena



The White House on Thursday missed the noon deadline for responding to the Republican-approved subpoena issued last week demanding the White House turn over "all documents" pertaining to the Solyndra loan guarantee.
But while White House aides earlier told Fox News there are no plans to produce more documents on the bankrupt solar panel firm until Republicans agree to narrow the scope of their request, House Republicans issued a statement saying they expect some response from the White House by the end of the day.

If the WH had nothing to do with the Solyndra debacle then why would they possess 85 thousand pages of documents???? to date?????

I watched Holder on TV being questioned about Solyndra for about 3 minutes.
Then I rewound the DVR and had my Business Law major son watch it without the sound.
Body language is AWESOME!
It is sad and embarrassing that this man is supposed to uphold the laws of our country.

AND, people! This is not about Nixon or Reagen or any other administration.
As a country we are witness to unfolding current events.

Indeed we are. A virtual test of wills that could incite another Constitutional Crisis and not upholding the law.

Executive Privilege was granted to Presidents in large part so they could have frank and open discussions with their staffs that wouldn't be made public. It is not however an excuse to not release information if something criminal has taken place. That ruling was made by the Supreme Court during the Watergate investigation when Nixon tried to invoke executive privilege to not release the tapes on which he discusses the coverup of a crime.

Where the Obama Administration has gotten themselves into hot water with Solyndra isn't the granting of the loan in the first place. That can be written off as EXTREMELY bad judgement. Where they got themselves into trouble is when they reworked the order of how creditors would be paid in the event of a default, putting one of Barack's big financial contributors ahead of the US taxpayers. If people in the Obama Administration knew that Solyndra was going to go belly up and pushed that restructuring of how creditors would be paid to reward a supporter at taxpayer expense then we should be talking about criminal charges being brought against anyone who participated in that. The Obama Administration's reluctance to release materials related to Solyndra leads me to believe that was indeed the case.

It was Jefferson who first established that subpoenas of the President himself were optional - the President could ignore them. Bush extended this Presidential power, and based on him and Jefferson's precedent - whether or not the WH obeys a subpoena is entirely up to the WH, its their option.

Seems fair -the Congress has near 100% immunity from searches of their papers and effects in the Capitol Building.


So the Republicans should thank Obama for choosing to humor their fishing expedition when he has no legal obligation to do so.
