First of all no one has said this will stop illegal immigration. It will help stem the flow of central Americans but will do nothing for illegals who originate from within Mexico.

Secondly we do indeed need the wall because no matter the successes of Trump at some point a jackass from the left will be elected and inevitably attempt to undermine all the progress made. A wall forces the flow to the ports of entry making it much harder to just waltz across the desert into the US. A wall that won't be torn down because it would permanently cripple the Democrat party if it were.

No you didn't. Mexico will abide by the agreement as long as a strong border control President is in power and a wall can't be built overnight, so we must do something in the short term.
