Watching a Star is Born.

you know.. the only version that I have seen and love.....is the Judy Garland 's 1954 version of a Star is born and the sound track .... that apart from the 1937 version of a Star Is Born...yes 1937 yes!

can it get better than this? (live and learn my friends)

Judy Garland - "The Man That Got Away" from "A Star Is Born"

A singer like that only comes by a couple of times in a generation. The way her voice matured from the Wizard of Oz is amazing. How it deepened.

I was born the year that song was recorded. Written by Ira Gershwin, brother of George Gershwin. Two of the greatest songwriters of the last century.

I liked the first A Star is Born from the 30's OK, even though it wasn't a musical.

The Streisand one has to be one of the worse movies ever made.

The movie from the 50's is so great, I can't imagine a remake holding a candle to it.

And James Mason's stellar performance is overlooked simply because Garland is superb.
