Actually, we should always follow what lobbyists push (aka, BRIBE) congress to do (and in some instance, NOT to do) when searching for legislation to curb an abuse of the common welfare and good.

Regarding mass murders, we know that gun manufacturers (and their bought puppet, the NRA) fought and won the right to NOT be sued for the misuse of their deadly products.

If we wanted to make a substantial dent with mass shootings (almost impossible to eliminate without reversing the Constitution's 2nd amendment) pass a law that gun manufacturers AND gun vendors can be sued when their product is sold WITHOUT a thorough background and psychological clean bill of health.

And if you sell your car to some clown who later drives drunk and kills someone, the victim's family should be able to sue YOU for millions in damages, right???

Pretty dumb response (as always)......Name another manufacturer...beside gun ones......who CANNOT be sued by consumers?

Excellent idea...

I'll file it right next to the plan to position a giant fan over LA to suck out the smog.

Booze manufacturers for providing alcohol to drunk drivers.

Medical records are private. So you can't find out if someone is crazy.

The people who knew these kids knew they were crazy and ignored it.

You can only prevent this by having armed cops on campuses like they do here.

"No vaccine manufacturer shall be liable in a civil action for damages arising from a vaccine-related injury or death associated with the administration of a vaccine after October 1, 1988, if the injury or death resulted from side effects that were unavoidable even though the vaccine was properly prepared and was accompanied by proper directions and warnings."

Booze manufacturers for providing alcohol to drunk drivers.

Under “dram shop” laws, a bar, restaurant, liquor store, or other licensed vendor of alcohol may find itself facing a civil lawsuit for damages if they sell alcohol to someone who goes on to injure a third party in an alcohol-related accident.

RE-READ that last part, above.

actually you can sue a gun manufacturer if the product is faulty and causes harm, just like any other product.

What you can't sue for is someone using it, and the weapon working as intended.

Thus the "sue ford for DWI" comparison is 100% accurate.

How about we lock up actual criminals instead?

Only if it can be shown that they served a clearly inebriated person.

Great idea...

Thanks for pointing out you would be satisfied with guns bearing a label that says "Don't murder anybody with it"!!!!

No, we have more than enough laws already and it's clear that mass murderers don't care to follow them.

The fix IMHO is for the preponderance of the citizenry to stop behaving like spoiled brats and start paying attention to what is going on in their communities so that would be mass murdering nutjobs can be identified and given mental health treatment before they go on killing sprees. Americans are too self absorbed and way to enamored of violence ......

Connecticut (a huge gun-manufacturing state) is attempting to sue Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC, after the Newtown MASSACRE.

However, the state faces a steep uphill climb because of a decade-old federal law called the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (signed by GWB in 2005)that gives the gun industry broad immunity.

This is exactly like the parents that tried to sue the vaccine manufacturer cuz their daughter suffered seizures after getting a DPT shot.

All the way to the Supreme Court. Good luck with that.

.

Actually I'd say it's more like trying to sue Ford because someone ran over your kid with a Mustang, idiotic lawsuit.
