Voter ID

Why are the liberals so against it. I have an ID for just about everything I am in my wallet.

There are Liberals in Pa. complaining about the ID requirement causing havoc at the polls because so many people don't know they need an ID with them to vote.

That doesn't say much for the voters the liberals are whining for does it.

Voter ID is a smart decision and should be a requirement in every state.

cops, I would not consider myself so much a liberal but I do believe that Voter ID makes sense if it is uniform and Free, in that in order to for those who wish to vote and are American citizens can obtain those ID's and all the documentation for them without cost for the purpose for voting. Further, they must be uniform, for example if my daughter goes to a state university, and I as a parent pay the state in which I live for her to attend there and she has an ID that says she is a student there, then as such that ID should be a state approved ID as say opposed to a gun permit. The point is, there is nothing wrong with the concept of Voter ID at all, its in the excecution of Voter ID where the problem happens. If for example you have a WW2 vet who has fought for his nation and is no loner able to vote because he is unable to obtain the proper ID for any number if reasons, then that in my humble opinion is shameful as it is for any number of people who cannot that have done so much for this nation because they are elderly , disabled, or otherwise unable to obtain a birth certificate to do so. My suggestion for this is a simple one, if someone who is an American Citizen wishes to vote and those wish a Voter ID, then its a simple matter of making the Voter Registration Card itself the proper form of ID. On a side note though, given the sheer number of Americans that vote in each election and the number of instances of voter fraud out there, the need for Voter ID seems much more like a solution in search of a problem rather than the other way around.

Bullshit

Birth Certificate? Are you serious...... Kenya comes to mind.

Yes I am serious and there are many examples of this if you care to look it up, I am sure your not advocating that a Vet go out and fight for your right to vote then be denied his are you? The fact is Voter ID is a good concept, if it were uniform which it clearly is not and seeks to address an issue which is not an issue.

The problem for Puerto Rican voters in Pennsylvania hinges on a 2010 law passed by the Puerto Rican government, which decided all birth certificates issued before that year were invalid. A number of Puerto Ricans, including many living in Pennsylvania, do not own a valid birth certificate as a result. And many are now scrambling to get one before the election.

Theres just one example.

A phone call is all it takes for a touch of help to vote. Mail in ballots are really easy to do these days.
So is getting Meals on Wheels to drop off breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday.

Yes, it is.

The Liberals I know, are against it because they think it will help OBAMA lose the office he occupies for a few more months...

As I said, Voter ID, is a good concept but it is not uniform and as such it causes more harm than it does good to fix a problem a problem that hardly exists. I will tell you this, the Indiana standard of Voter ID which allows a person to vote even if they do not have an ID by provisional ballot cast by affidavit is a good method to allow those who fall through the cracks to cast their ballots. My biggest issue with Voter ID is not so much the concept, it is that Americans who like the man I mentioned and many others, who have voted all their lives would not be able to do so. To me this is causing more harm than it does good, and as such makes the current number of Voter ID Laws suspect because they lack any uniform standard. Take for example Tenn. you can vote if you have a gun permit with your photo, and yet you cannot vote with your DD-214 with a photo, although you can use your DD-214 to obtain an ID to vote. See what I mean, there is no uniform standard, also in the same state if your child goes to a state school which is a state institution and has a photo ID from that institution they cannot use that. Again, its not so much the Voter ID Laws themselves it's more so how they are crafted and lack any standards.

Hey, Illegals voting and some people vote multiple times.
The ID would eliminate that from happening.
Citizens who choose to vote have more than one way to do so legally.
Anything less is spin.

Here is the problem, if Voter ID Laws prevent illegals from voting, then what prevents an illegal from using several methods to get around them, for example you do know that a resident Alien can obtain a DL, and in states like New Mexico, Utah, Washington you do know they do not have to show proof of citizenship to get a DL. So if someone wanted to they could simply get around those Voter ID Law's if they had that in mind. It is not spin that the lack of any uniform application of these Voter ID Laws do prevent American citizens from voting and in so doing even though they may seek to prevent a a issue that is not so much an issue, they also prevent citizens from voting. Frankly I don't see any law that prevents an American citizen from voting as being spin, or helpful.

I'm about as liberal as they come and I'm not opposed to ID...as long as you're not disenfranchising a single voter when implementing it and it doesn't cost a penny to the voter.

a brand new one

My God, don't you even read the stuff you cite? Your article says,
"The study was created by the Black Youth Project, a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization that aims to increase civic engagement and voter participation among minority youth."

And you have the gullibility to believe that an organizations whose member vote 96% for Democrats is a "no-partisan" organization?

No money huh...... liberal! Don't want to pay to play. Typical and disgusting.

What is disgusting is requiring someone to pay money in order to vote.

What is even more disgusting is liberoidals like you being perfectly good with requiring people to show ID to check into a hotel, get on an airliner, obtain a business license, or even get a fucking fishing license, then doing a 180° and declaring that an ID to vote is the biggest threat to civil liberties since slavery.
