You're telling me that Virginia will no longer celebrate shiela jackson-lee???

OMG has anybody told IM2?

Wonder why there ever was a "Lee Jackson Day". :dunno:

Wiki sez:

>> In 1983, the holiday was merged with the new Federal holiday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, as Lee–Jackson–King Day in Virginia. This merger was reversed in 2000. <<

Get that? For seventeen years Virginia lumped Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson and Martin Luther King II into the same day.

Fun fact -- Virginia is also the last of the 57 states that thinks it can make car radar detectors "illegal". Despite the Federal Communications Act of 1934. :cuckoo:

It's slow as molasses up there.

When you've had two major wars fought and ended, been attacked by the British, twice, the Union Army, the Canadians, Germans, Russians, Al Qaeda, and neo nazis, it gives you an attitude.

Every police and government agency in the country is here.

We are the police state. Which is amazing considering the fact you can obtain any kind of firearm here easier than you can get concert tickets.

It's the home of seven Presidents, including the first one. It's the home of Jefferson. History, and culture are very important to native Virginians. It's the home of the Capital of the Confederacy, but oddly enough, Virginians understand the down side of that better than anyone outside of the state. A lot of families, including mine, had members that fought for both sides of that damn war. We don't celebrate it. Young guys that glorify it, don't really understand what they are glorifying. And the older ones that do we call Cletis, and yes they are dumb as a stump.

You go to any small town here, and blacks and whites get along better than in most parts of the country. So it strikes a strange chord to us when outsiders try to label us as bigots. They generally come in from outside of the state, and we don't want them here.

But yes, we still have our pockets of assholes and slow to keep up types, like everywhere else. And for some reason the legislature don't like radar detectors. Go figure.

RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) -- A bill that would scrap the state's Lee-Jackson holiday, celebrating two Confederate generals, has passed the Virginia Senate. Governor Ralph Northam has also proposed to make Election Day a state holiday so that every Virginian has the time and opportunity to cast their ballot.

Times are changing fast boys and girls.

Great. He can do whatever he wants since tramp can do whatever he wants.

Election Day should be a week long, I cant see it being a holiday, only state workers will get off with pay.

Good news. There is no reason that Americans should celebrate the lives of traitor generals. I live in the area. There is a stretch of Route 1 that is known as Jefferson Davis Highway, which runs past NATIONAL Airport, NOT "Ronald Reagan National Airport." In Alexandria, Virginia, there is a street named "Quantrell Avenue." Lee's childhood home still stands in Old Town, Alexandria. It's time to let go of traitors to our country and clean ourselves up. BTW: there also is a "Gallows Road."

Someone rated the above post as "funny." All I'm saying is let's clean ourselves up.

Ahhh, he funnied me, I'm offended! Deeply! The offender should be either marched off to the Gulag or put against the wall, right?

First thing Chairman Mao did when he took over was to direct his subservient hoards to remove and destroy any reminder of China's pre-communist past; churches, temples, museums, books, statues, and murder teachers.

Today's lefty liberals are embracing this same commie agenda. ..
