The bulk of the air to air aircraft losses by Ukraine has been from high flying M-31Ms firing the R77M missile well out of range from anything the Ukrainians have. You see, the Ukrainians have to stay low to medium and their missiles are at a huge advantage from the high flying R77Ms. And, no, the F-16 won't change that either. Russia has their own Overwatch and can get the info to the pilots much quicker than the US Command Birds who have to go through a series of steps and approvals before it reaches the Ukrainian Pilots.

Ukrainian air force has been flying low because of the the dense SAM network in Ukraine along the areas of conflict, which of course doesn't change the fact that that Russia has proven quite porous. That is why there are drones flying into buildings in Moscow.
