US Racist Immigration Laws Since 1889

---------------------------- interesting , who has a RIGHT to come into he USA and who or what gives them that RIGHT ?? Weren't the USA immigration laws changed for the worse in the 60s , think it was in 1964 or 1965 . I think that good old democrat 'dead kennedy' was the force in weakening and changing America's immigration laws wasn't he ???

It was up to each state to determine who had a right to immigrate ;

Now that the federal government has USURPED the authority , it is up to federal bureaucrats' discretion
--------------------------------------------------- I think that ALL immigration should be stopped . I see no reason for more immigration into the USA which has a population in 2010 of about 310 million . ---------- just a general comment Contumacious .
-------------------------------------- and USA population was about 200 million in 1970 . So it has added over a 100 million people in 40 years . It makes no sense except to the elite politicians and liberal dummies and pro growth money grubbers . And my numbers do not even include the illegal border jumper Contumacious .

There will be many, many more new Americans, no matter what ignorant dopes like you cry or how often you cry it.

No one has actually proposed closing the borders. ....

That idiot Pisonme has, many times.

The dingleberries accuse Trump of promoting racist immigration laws.

But the US has had racist immigration laws since 1889 .

In 1800 Congress enacted an immigration law . Founding Fathers James Madison and Thomas Jefferson reminded Congress that the federal government had NO AUTHORITY WHATSOEVER to adopt immigration laws. The law was allow to expire in 1802.

We had no immigration Law until 1889 when a racist SCOTUS ruled that the federal government could interdict , detain and deport without Constitution authority because the Chinese presence in our midst constituted an emergency. The Chinese wanted to work in the California gold mines competing against "our people" (wink, wink) white Europeans.

So learn US history before accusing Mr. Trump.

The Chinese Exclusion Case
130 U.S. 581 (1889)

Most immigration laws were enacted to protect workers from competing with foreigners. For that reason, immigration laws might be good thing for the American worker. I'm personally tired of seeing a lack of good paying jobs because 25% of the workforce (I don't know if it is that high) kind of waters down wages. It is kind of like supply and demand.

That's bullshit.

The powers-that-be have no authority to manufacture "emergencies" in order to have a pretext to Amend the Constitution.

Furthermore, American consumer have the right to pay the least amount for goods and services. Let the market place decide who should be gainfully employed.Neither industries nor workers should be protected.

------------------------------ evening Dripper !!

The first Chinese were hired in 1865 [sic] at approximately $28 per month to do the very dangerous work of blasting and laying ties over the treacherous terrain of the high Sierras. They lived in simply dwellings and cooked their own meals, often consisting of fish, dried oysters and fruit, mushrooms and seaweed
--------------------------------- once again , so what ?? Chinese supplied labor , they volunteered to do dangerous work for money Siete .
A little bit of history knowledge goes a long way. Laying the railroad did not originally involve explosives but back breaking rock busting. For that big Germans and Irish found jobs. The Chinese suggested explosives since they were very familiar with explosives. The Chinese used explosives for hundreds of years. Using explosives was safer, faster and cheaper. That meant more Chinese.

But....but when the Chinese men decided they wanted to work in the California Gold Mines and wanted white pussy they became .......tadah - the Yellow Peril

The Yellow Terror in all His Glory (1899) is a rebellious Chinese man, armed to the teeth, who stands astride a fallen white woman.

In 1870s California, despite the Burlingame Treaty (1868), which allowed legal immigration from China, working-class white people demanded that the U.S government cease the immigration of “filthy yellow hordes” of Chinese people who took jobs from native-born white-Americans during an economic depression.[2] In that xenophobic vein, Horace Greeley, editor of the New-York Tribune newspaper, wrote a racist editorial opinion supporting the exclusion:

The Chinese are uncivilized, unclean, and filthy beyond all conception, without any of the higher domestic or social relations; lustful and sensual in their dispositions; every female is a prostitute of the basest order”.[2]

In Los Angeles, xenophobia of the Yellow Peril culminated with the Chinese Massacre of 1871, in which a mob of 500 racist white men went to Chinatown (the Chinese ghetto) and lynched some 20 Chinese people. Throughout the 1870s and 1880s, Denis Kearney, the Irish-born leader of the Workingmen's Party of California was “a demagogue of extraordinary power”[8] who concluded his speeches — against the press, capitalists, politicians, and Chinese workers — with the epilogue: “. . . and whatever happens, the Chinese must go!”[9][10]:349 By 1882, popular political pressure to cease the immigration of Chinese workers led to the U.S. Congress legislating the Chinese Exclusion Act (1882).[2]
