US foreign policy is characterized by strategic patience and meticulous planning, however, it has some shortcomings. Regarding its policy towards Sudan, US has run out of cards to pressure the Sudanese government and felt tired of dealing with its dossier.

Truly, Washington is yearning to topple the Sudanese government and it has tried all means to do that. It has cooperated with armed groups including Sudan Revolutionary Front, imposed economic sanctions and sided with South Sudan in its disputes with against Sudan.

It has also provided funds to Sudan Liberation Movement-North, some Darfuri armed movements and politicians who have nothing to lose such as Mubarek Al Fadil who has been hosted by CIA for months in Washington.

US has been obstructing settlement of pending issues between Sudan and and South Sudan in a bid to undermine the Sudanese government.

In phone contact, diplomatic sources told Sudan Safari that a Congress committee is planning to discuss a paper of more than six pages endorsed by mid-level CIA officer. The document called for supporting South Sudan for a year or more to accelerate the overthrow of the Sudanese government by causing economic decline in Sudan.

The document urged the Congress to endorse financial support to help South Sudan to fill in its stopped oil returns. The document hoped that the measures will lead to economic decline in Sudan which in turn will lead to the overthrow of the the government by losing the next elections due to economic factors.

The document has proposed ineffective measures including tightening of the economic pressures on Sudan to cover new areas. But if the government is toppled, Sudan will just become a tool in the hand of US administration like South Sudan.

According to the diplomatic sources, the proposal were crafted by Mubarek Al Fadil who told US officials that he is familiar and close to the the situations inside the Sudanese government, so he advised them to target the economy and nothing else.

The plot will justify the quick emergence and approval of of the new dawn charter by the political opposition parties which sent mid level or unknown representatives to sign the charter so as to repudiate or deny the charter if necessary and in the same time to have the privileges if the government is toppled.

The planning is accurate, but Washington is uncertain of its success. First, the charter was rejected by the Sudanese people and even the leaders of the political opposition are disagreed over it.

Moreover, the crisis between Khartoum and Juba has led to differences within the South Sudanese leadership and the relief of senior officers from the army. The South Sudanese differences are expected to result in change within the leadership itself sooner or later.

sorry, not all that familiar

Is this the same Sudan that sends raiders into the south to slaughter the men and boys of a village then rape all the women and girls of child bearing years then kill those that are not?
