US Debt Is Now $23 Trillion And Climbing

When the GOP took over Congress in January 2015, the federal deficit was $439 billion. They immediately set to work doubling it.

Budget deficit smashes $1 trillion mark, the highest in seven years

When Trump was sworn in, the federal debt was $19.9 trillion.

Trump: I will eliminate U.S. debt in 8 years

This past fiscal year, Trump spent more than anyone in the history of the Universe. He exceeded Obama's worst year of spending by a trillion dollars.

So much for being the party of small government.

Before you try to claim it isn't Trump's fault for some reason, you should know that I will find your posts where you blamed Obama for every penny of the debt accrued on his watch.

Before you try to say "Let me know when he's got more debt than Obama" bullshit hypocrisy, remember that you pseudocons started in on Obama's spending habit right at the beginning. You did not wait until he had beaten Bush's record.

So i guess all you're left with is to blame darkies and Muslims.

You called out the GOP on its failing. What is your side’s plan specifically to fix the problem? How are you going to reduce the debt? Tax the wealthy into oblivion? Then what? Will you ever support cutting spending?
"My side"? Are you ASSuming I'm a Democrat?

I've been slamming the federal debt since coming to this forum.

To answer your question, see post 664.

Since they've learned how to divert tens of millions to their family members, you won't ever get Congress to cut spending

Did you read post 664? Number 1 is as conservative a position as it gets. Libertarian, even.

There are many sides, including Democrats, that want to tax the wealthy. Socialists and Communists are examples. (No you are not one of them). My apologies that your side would be one that aligns with tax the wealthy.

Hate to say it but cutting spending and raising taxes is the only way to pay it off.

Don't agree.

Cut spending. There are hundreds of billions of Federal Spending that can be cut.

Once spending is cut cut cut, then CUT TAXES too.

BIG GOVERNMENT is the problem.

The solution is to CUT IT.

Prior to Trump, it was not an anathema in the gop to suggest taxes on the more wealthy should be raised to provide for a tax cut for the middle class because that would spur consumption/demand and increase economic activity. But the problem is/was "the wealthy" are not a golden goose whose eggs are literally without limit. If you tax too much, there's not investment.

And the ultimate problem is not wealth redistribution from top to bottom. Rather, when we ended the new deal taxes on capital, we also killed unions. We can argue good or bad. But the result is gnp growth accelerated, and so did profits and the income of those who owned capital, but for people depending on wages … their incomes have been flat. There were republicans wondering "how do we get wages to rise without tanking the economy?"

Since you made this thread, we have added 50 billion dollars to the national debt.

You clearly did not read post 664 since I plainly state that I would LOWER tax rates for EVERYONE by eliminating $1.4 trillion of spending.

No one on this forum has ever given as specific plans for balancing the budget, paying down the debt, and lower tax rates than I have.

Ever.

What seems to confuse you is that you don't recognize an actual conservative when you encounter one.

imo G5000s correct in that the problem is the structural deficits, and his post 664 set forth his main ideas on that issue. He and I disagree somewhat on that, but the real issue now is that for the first time we have a president who literally views creating money as the solution to yearly deficits. THAT is new.

The gop's tired old trot out of "supply side" tax cuts merely exacerbated the issue. No one with half a brain and who didn't base opinions no simple partisan (gop goodorbad, dems goodorbad) could have possibly thought that was going to raise gnp. The rich are doing just fine without our help.

You 'splain it to me Master?! Thank you! Thank you! Now let me splain something to your stupid ass: Trump kicked Hillary's fat rump all up and down the street. Without California, you have no campaign, no hope, no chance!

YOU'RE WELCOME! See! I actually DID what you only CLAIM you could do.

I did explain it to you. None of what you said here is related to what I explained to you.

You did this last time too. You just getting extremely defensive and then shift the conversation to something else. Almost like you're not actually reading what I said.

I'd be happy to walk you through it if you're calm enough to listen, but I highly doubt that. But I'll offer you a shot anyway. Show me what you claimed to be a "mathematical impossibility" and I will show you that it's not mathematically impossible. Do you see the words "mathematically impossible" in what you wrote above? No? Then that's not what I'm arguing against and you should try again.

We've already been down that road in two LONG detailed threads, Tard, the one you challenged me but ran out with no proof to back it up and the second one you were infited to but ignored. And still nothing but flapping gums from you.

You're the one who brought it up again. I offered to re-explain it to you. Apparently you don't want that.

I'm still waiting for the FIRST TIME you explained how Hillary could lose the Electoral College vote in 27 out of 30 state rankings and lost the popular vote in 27 out of 30 state rankings yet still won the popular vote and was the legitimate owner of the presidency?!

Please link us to your post where you explained that?

And how all of that was due to "russian interference?"
(This is from the obesity thread, which was locked, for some reason).

In regards to your assertion, it is simply absurd.

In some cases, people may suffer from obesity which isn't the result of overeating or gluttonous behavior, but only pure denialism would argue that, in the majority of cases, obesity is caused by overeating or gorging, particularly on unhealthy, calorie-rich foods in excessive quantities - such as as sugar sodas, fast food, prosed food.

Calories in . calories out, one gains weight - there's not much more to it than that.

So yes, the best "health insurance" against obesity is not being a fat, gluttonous slob to begin with.

Or simply eating "less" of what one already does if switching to a healthier diet or exercise routine is out of the question. (As an example, a fellow from the Documentary "Super Size Me" ate a diet only of McDonald's big Macs, but kept his caloric intake to a reasonable limit, and weight only 140 lbs by eating somewhere in the vicinity of 1500 calories a day of the same food, instead of... 5000 calories).

I'm going to assume that many health insurance companies don't offer "health insurance" for lung cancer caused by chain smoking cigarettes, tobacco or marijuana either - because the best "health" insurance is simply to quit, or to acknowledge that one is taking a health risk if they choose to remain a smoker.

If you make any further childish, denialistic, infantile replies to this, your going to be ignored and viewed simply as trolling, case closed. (Much as any childish assertion about "anorexia", when the average selfish American suffering from self-induced obesity that they are so far away from anorexia that they would never be close to having to worry about it, and probably think that a weight that any reasonable doctor would say is medically healthy is "anorexic" simply due to being 100-200 lbs less than what they weigh).

That is exactly the point
The rich do not need the tax cuts, the people DO need their tax contribution

“The people” you speak of whom “NEED” other people’s money...Are they the people dropping out of school, working shit jobs, having babies out of wedlock, smoking the most weed, smoking cigarettes, drinking the most booze, committing the most crime and begging for more wetbacks?
Are we talking about the same “PEOPLE”?

You started a thread about weight in POLITICS rather than General Discussion, that is why it was closed. And this too is still OT with nothing to do with debt.
You obviously don't know jack shit about health or metabolism, how different people utilize calories differently, so obviously no point in discussing further.
