Once again, for the slow and the brain dead. There is no uniform method of reporting between the Countries. Our death rate appears higher in some areas because we count EVERYONE that dies. With babies that means all the premature births that in other countries do not even get counted.

you know those infant mortality rates are skewed don't you?

Many countries don't consider extreme premature births as live births and those children do not count towards the infant mortality rate but we will put a baby with little or no chance of living in the NICU and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to give it a few weeks or months of life. when that poor child succumbs to its fate we count it as an infant death where in many other countries it would have not even been considered a live birth.

So our dedication to saving new born lives is actually working against us in the statistics.

the same people who voice their objections to abortion are more than willing to live with a high infant morality rate....once again...its not pro life...its pro birth ..

1. Abstinence only sex education that doesn't work

2. Lack of heath care

3. Irresponsible parents

4. Irresponsible children

5. Poverty

6. Lack of Planned Parenting

7. Teenage pregnancy.

Other countries wait for a period of time before assigning them live birth status so that their infant mortality rates compared to ours are not comparable on the same basis. This in addition to premature births which go un reported elsewhere. I read this in the WSJ back a couple of weeks.
