Year on year, officer fatalities...are down. The OP would have us believe that it is open season on police officers due to Obama. That's what about it.

Yes, I understand what you mean. It's a very dangerous job, and sometimes things go wrong. Cops know what the risks are when they put on the uniform. It's sad when anyone is killed needlessly, very sad. But, not knowing the circumstances and the exact situation, it's difficult to judge and place blame. We're not always given the complete story.

Of course cops don't expect their political masters to throw them under the Bus like Obama and several Governors mayors and DA's have done.

It's about a 10:1 ratio. It should be 1000:1. Frequently cops have to shoot to protect the lives of others or to stop a crime in progress or to prevent the escape of a criminal. There is hardly ever a valid reason for a thug to shoot a cop. One case that comes to mind is when cops burst through the door to serve a warrant and the home owner shot one not knowing who was entering.
He was charged with capitol murder, but a Grand Jury refused to indict.
