Twitter has lost almost half of its advertising revenue since it was bought by Elon Musk for $44bn (£33.6bn) last October, its owner has revealed.
He said the company had not seen the increase in sales that had been expected in June, but added that July was a "bit more promising".

He has a big number to find at the end of the month. The article speculates that this might put pressure on Tesla shares.
Its all looking a bit of a disaster. Maybe providing a platform for rapists and people trafackers isnt profitable ?

and?

sell your stock before it drops lower,

WHAT?

you don't have stock in twitter?

then fuck off.

Why would advertisers come back when he is limiting how many tweets a person can see depending on if they pay Musk or not

But Hey if you pay him you can use the highlights tab which I can only assume will be his twitter feed plus those of others who pay him.

Seems they are chugging along just fine.
The social media's monetizable daily user growth grew more than 20% from a year ago last week, the email stated, per the FT. In the second quarter of 2022, Twitter reported 237.8 million monetizable daily users — a 16.6% on-year growth.

A hit piece of an article. Sure, Apple hasn't bought any ads but Twitter is paying content creators more than YouTube or other platforms are paying. Twitter has half the staff as they aren't trying to limit political speech as the other platforms are getting to be so restrictive that practically nothing of value gets said at all.

I don't remember ever seeing stranger, more self-destructive behavior from someone at that economic/business/intellectual level.

Just inexplicable.
Elon went WOKE.
Paying the price.

I just wonder what the thought process was. He not only has to worry about Twitter after vastly overpaying for it, but he also has Tesla, SpaceX and other business concerns.

I wonder if he really understands how politically divided the country is, and that wading into that mud pit would almost certainly hurt his business. Either he didn't think of it, he dismissed it, or he just doesn't care.

Losing half your income is considered bad in most businesses. He isnt even making the rent on his offices.

People were stealing his users data....
He has resolved (not completely) the issue.

You literally can't read that many posts in an hour...nobody can. It was bots scraping users data off of Twitter. He wasn't going to allow someone to have that data.

Actually he is fixing the business model and making it profitable...which it never was before.
Which as social media platforms are normalized the premium people will be willing to pay for stock in such will evaporate....
It's actually going to be a good long term buying investment opportunity.
It's becoming a value stock that can rise again.

The business model will always rely on advertising to make it profitable.
