trump's bond insurer doesn't seem to have the money.

"Everyone else"? Do you know how few have the clout and interest in spending hundreds of millions of dollars to build? There are also thousands of financial institutions in New York alone.

What you are saying is a major extrapolation and you know this. It would be different if Trump didn't build and he didn't repay. He did both. Therefore, all those who benefited from this transaction benefitted.

Imagine how much fraud is going on in New York government alone? WIth NOONE outside the crooks benefiting,

Does it matter?

If one millionaire loses out to a billionaire on a housing project in NY city, it could have a HUGE impact. Why? Because the billionaire is just going to stick the money in his bank account. With Trump it's even more of a difference because Trump doesn't always pay those who work for him, then sues them. The millionaire might get a but richer, might pay more for the workers, might spend that money in NY city and contribute to the city more than Trump would.

Trump benefited from FRAUD. That's ILLEGAL.

Why do you think Trump should be able to get away with crimes? If it were Biden's son, you'd be asking for the death penalty, or worse

Those who lent Trump the money are the experts, not the government. The entire situation probably helped bump Trump as much as any of the campaigns against him.

Those who lent him money are people who aren't adverse to committing crimes or looking the other way.

The bankers DO NOT MAKE THE LAWS. The US and State govts do.

You break the law, you BREAK THE LAW.

Except if you're Trump of course.

So then why aren't they also charging the banks who looked the other way?

It is one of the most egregious examples of financial terror against a citizen. He also happens to be the opposition leader, This alone makes this case quite dangerous to the future of the U.S.

They should.

It's not "financial terror against a citizen". How over freaking dramatic do you want to be?

Should a person be charged with a crime they have committed or not? Simple question.

Your point is, if there's corruption, then do nothing. Well, that works well in China... doesn't it?

Trump’s Bond Insurer Doesn’t Seem To Have The $175M It’s Guaranteeing

"In a midday court filing, the Knight Speciality Insurance Company revealed that it currently only has $138 million in “surplus.” That means the bond it has decided to post for Trump smashes through the 10 percent barrier, topping a whopping 127 percent of the company’s dedicated reserves."
Pretty much explains why the guy was willing to do it, he can't risk what he doesn't have.
Crooks and liars trying to post bond for a crook and a liar.

trump claims he has half a billion dollars in cash, why does he need someone else to post his bond anyway?
Thats...a problem.

No one has ever been fined a $454M bond nor required to pay for the privilege of appealing.

Umm,not quite right there SC.
Maybe it's a south-of-the-border phenomena you are unused to, but.....
....there have been any number of bigger bonds than Trump's.

For example, to name three: a $1 billion bond for Samsung in 2014, a $1 billion bond for Cox Communications in 2021, and a $1.3 billion bond for SAP, a German software company, in 2011.
