Trump writes law letting puerto ricans use food stamps for prepared food.

Porto Ricans do not need electricity. It is like 80 degrees there year round. And they can cook stuff on the BBQ like their cannibal ancestors.

This is like obama. The president writing laws when the constitution says only congress can do that.

Trump officials allow Puerto Ricans to use food stamps for hot food

oct 3 2017 The Trump administration has granted a waiver so that Puerto Ricans can use food stamp benefits to purchase prepared food in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

In a letter dated Sept. 30 and obtained by The Hill, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said recipients of the island’s Nutritional Assistance Program (NAP) would be able to use their benefits to purchase hot food at any store through November.

Food stamp recipients are usually prohibited from buying hot foods and other items that can be eaten “in store,” such as sandwiches, soup or pizza.

3 months without power and you'd WISH you could use YOUR foodstamps for a hot meal at KFC..

You're a real jerk. It adds NO money to the effort. AND it makes sense. That last part explains why you're against it.

A wavier is not law, it is the setting aside of a law on a temporary basis. It is the humane thing to do for a time. Beats letting victims starve to death.

Of course it's a law you fool. Trump should have gone to congress and asked them to change the law. He can't grant waivers to the law. This is just like obama and his amnesties. THINK

There's no need to change the law. The law is fine. This is an audible at scrimmage line. It'll be GONE in a few months. You don't NEED this in Houston/Florida because the power wasn't gonna be out for that long. If it was LAW -- it would be abused every time a power pole fell over. Or it RAINED in California..

You conservatives bitched endlessly every time that Obama signed an EO to get something done.

Now? You praise Trump everytime he signs an EO.

Which is it conservatives, do you hate EO's or not? You've been bitching that EO's are a "dictator's" way of getting around Congress, so since Trump has done so many of them, does that make Trump a dictator as well?
So! You want the Puerto Rican's to starve? Why? Because they are brown?

They aren't brown.

If he had wrote something to take shit away from people or to throw out brown people you'd be celebrating. You're just mad people are being helped.

No i wouldn't. This is a big issue with me. The constitution says "all legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a congress of the united states." That means presidents, courts, and bureaucrats cannot write laws and yet they do it all the time.

Congress can pass legislation to override an Executive Order.

Courts can strike down Executive Orders (as we have seen many times this year).

There are checks and balances. The President writing an EO is the quickest way a law can be written, and if Congress or the Courts don't object, then everyone is pretty much on the same page, and the same law would likely be passed by Congress after several months.

Everyone agrees the EO is quick but writing a law that way is still unconstitutional.

"All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a congress of the united states."

Trump should have gone to congress. The law could be changed overnight by congress.

Anyone can write a law, but only Congress can pass it to become a law..

/—-/ Geanting a waiver is not writing a law. It is temporary.

They doesn't has stoves and pots to cook their foods, and place to clean their dishes or to stored them. He has done what is right.

HAHAHA. So temporary is what matters?? So if trump announced that robbing banks is legal but just for the next week, - you would be ok with that? THINK

HAHAHA. You don't even understand the issue. It may be right but where is the legal justification for trump rewriting laws? This is like Aunt Barry when he rewrote obamacare and the press said "he's not rewriting the law, he's just tweaking it."

/—-/ What a stupid analogy. Try this one you big dope: You’re stopped at a red light and a cop waves you through because of an accident. He needs to make way for an ambulance. Did the cop create a new traffic law or give you a temporary waiver? THINK.

This country has started off as a Christian nation. They know that they were in need at one time. And all of the hostile natives saw them as a threat. And so the Pilgrims were dying off from sickness and hunger that winter, because they did not know what to eat. And were afraid to leave from the area to hunt, because of the hostile natives. But a few natives had came to help them, free of charge. To show them what plants to eat and where to hunt without invading other tribes' territories. That is why Pres. Lincoln made Thanksgiving a national holiday. It was for thanking God for sending help that can speak their tongue. And to promote the general welfare means to help those to get them back on their feet as that they received help. And it is also for to help those that cannot help themselves, like the widows or the orphans. The authors of the Constitution wasn't for slavery. But they had added it into the Constitution that all men are created equals, but it wasn't the right time to explain to the people. I guess that they were afraid of the people tearing up the Constitution. And so they put it off for a later time for someone else to explain to the people..

Providing for the welfare of the general public is a basic goal of government. The preamble to the U.S. Constitution citespromotion of the general welfare as a primary reason for the creation of the Constitution. Promotion of the general welfare isalso a stated purpose in state constitutions and statutes. The concept has sparked controversy only as a result of itsinclusion in the body of the U.S. Constitution. General Welfare

Exodus 22:25 “If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not treat it like a business deal; charge no interest. 26 If you take your neighbor’s cloak as a pledge, return it by sunset, 27 because that cloak is the only covering your neighbor has. What else can they sleep in? When they cry out to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.

Leviticus 19:18 “‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

Leviticus 7:15 The meat of their fellowship offering of thanksgiving must be eaten on the day it is offered; they must leave none of it till morning.

Ezra 3:11 With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the Lord: “He is good; his love toward Israel endures forever.” And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.

Why have Congress approve some change to a law that can be abused in the future? Why muck up the law and insert loopholes to be abused, when this is a ONCE in 50 year event?

Actually he can, under emergency powers rules, and these weather disasters most certainly count as emergencies.

You ignorant jackass. The constitution says only congress can write laws and if congress wants to transfer some of that legislative power to the president, then congress needs to go to the states and get the constitution amended.

Congress cannot amend the constitution by stature. Why can't you understand that?
He didn't write a law, you fucking retard. He put a temporary waiver on existing law.

Congress can write that this change only applies in PR and only for the next say 2 months.
