trump would abandon NATO if re-elected

I suspect that President Trump would end the war in Ukraine by first seeking a cease fire, then compelling Ukraine to participate in negotiations that would necessarily involve giving up some territory.

We need to abandon the philosophy that, "The enemy of our enemy is [by definition] our friend," and stop supporting one of the most corrupt regimes on the planet, one that tramples civil rights like elephants trample the tall grass.

As for NATO, who seriously gives a shit? NATO was formed to protect Western Europe from the Soviet Union...which doesn't exist anymore.
The USSR doesn’t exist but Putin does

I see Trump ending the war in Ukraine by withdrawing all support of Zelinsky, including from other NATO countries, right before disbanding NATO, and leaving Zelinsky with no other option but to surrender.

Trump could not withdraw unilaterally. He would need a supermajority in the Senate or an Act of Congress.

He could fuck with NATO in other ways though. Public announcements of a refusal to invoke Article 5 for one.

Do you think this is Trump’s plan? Are you this retarded?

First of all they are not “our” chip manufacturing plants, fool.
Secondly, the Biden initiated Chips Act (which most Repubs opposed) is designed precisely to encourage Taiwan’s TSMC — which makes roughly 90 percent of the world's advanced chips, powering everything including iPhones, artificial intelligence, electric vehicles and fighter jets — to move plants here and abroad. Unfortunately, this is not like moving a fortune cookie factory, or a car factory, and Taiwan is actually dragging its feet, as it is aware of the difficulties and knows TSMC is crucial to its own wealth and even existence.
1. Do you know Trump's plan for Ukraine? If you do write it. Otherwise my guess is as likely as yours.

2. Yes they are our chip plants. Our corporations own them.

3. The problem is if China attacks Taiwan the guts of those chip plants get removed or destroyed, so no net chip[ gain.
If China wants Taiwan with the advanced chip manufacturing capacity intact, it needs a Plan-B.

Trump can't withdraw from NATO (the law was passed this term).
Yep. The OP claim is total bullshit.

Trump actually strengthened NATO, so says NATO Secretary Stoltenberg

You can double down all you want on arrogant stupidity and gross ignorance, but legally and in every other important way Taiwan Semiconductor Microchip Corporation, Ltd., the world’s largest advanced microchip manufacturer, is a Taiwan corporation, founded and registered and overwhelmingly based in Taiwan, with the cooperation and participation of the Taiwan government … which remains its largest single investor by far.

It by law must obey Taiwanese law. Its founder was a Chinese-born, American educated engineer, who has long been a Taiwan citizen. Its second or third largest investor is a Singapore government sovereign fund. All its chief executive officers have Chinese/Taiwanese names. Its apparently almost irreplaceable professional workforce is overwhelmingly Taiwanese, as are its secret patents. It has its own unmatched industrial / scientific creativity.

Sure, even an ignoramus like you can buy one of its 5+ billion shares on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, the NY Stock Exchange or through Fidelity or Vanguard … but you will still be an ignorant jerk.

kyzr's record of guessing is putz.

Taiwan controls those chip plants.

China is not going to be allowed to have the chip plants.

I think it is a fair bet that if China simply invaded Taiwan in the near term the top microchip plants there would be destroyed, by Taiwanese or Western agents — causing a catastrophic world economic contraction for years.

Of course as I have repeatedly written, China already has a number of “Plan Bs” to pressure Taiwan to do its bidding — none of which have been working out very satisfactorily. This is also why the U.S. public stand toward Taiwan and the “One China Policy” should not follow the Republican cowboys in Congress, but continue to be carefully limited and articulated.

Nobody wants to kill this “golden goose,” and we in the West should also want to preserve Taiwan’s vibrant democracy as an example to Mainland Chinese people fed up with XiJinping’s “cult of personality” and increasingly dictatorial rule.

Like the Cubans needed them in 1960?

How did WE react?

They weren't Cuban, you idiot.

Trump will not have the power to withdraw from NATO or defund Ukraine.

That's why Congress passed and the President signed the legislation last term.

He could pull all troops from Europe.

The Generals would arrest such a President for dereliction of duty, which pass authority to a rational VP.
You're nuttier than squirrel shit.

Trump not only doesn't care about NATO, he doesn't care about the United States. I suspect that if reelected, Trump will claim to be ruler for life and would have no problem gifting the United States to Russia in his will if they allowed him to build a high rise in Moscow with his name on it.
You need 30 days observation.

trump doesn't care about NATO. He said so himself, many times. He knows if he abandons NATO, Putin would have a easy road to take back the old Soviet countries, and more. trump is the most dangerous man in the world right now. He has assembled a cult that is will to do anything he asks, including acts of violence and intimidation. He is the danger from within that our founding fathers warned us about.
So what

Correct, TSMC makes 56% of the world's semiconductors. The other 44% are not Taiwanese. All of the investors in TSMC are not Taiwanese either. A takeover by China would be very bad for them.
