The Dems passed a bill to reopen gov. Mitch won’t let the senate vote on it.

Trump can reopen the gov at any time , not the other way around .

There's no guarantee that the Dems will negotiate in good faith.....so that's not an option.
Democrats are trying to screw this country up and blame it on Trump.
They have no intention on doing their jobs.
Why should he let them get away with doing this?
The Democrats are so dishonest and underhanded that they remind me of the Palestinians. Trump is the Israelis. There is no hope for them to negotiate because the Israelis cannot trust the Palestinian Democrats to stick to the deal. That's where we are. Causing the lockdown is bad faith.
Bailing on the border bill in December is bad faith .

Trump can show good faith for once and restart the gov. What’s the downside ? He can shut it down in another month if talks go nowhere.

The fact is the Democrats have not acted like responsible representatives from the git-go.
They've refused to hear out the president's rationale for building the wall.
They've stormed out of intel meetings before they are even finished.
They've refused to attend anything, and instead acted like impetuous children.

The reason for negotiations is to establish common ground, but Democrats refuse to do anything till the government is restarted.
This ignores the fact that the shutdown is benefiting the public and the government is actually running more smoothly because most of Obama saboteurs are on unemployment. The Democrats refuse to budge because they do not want to give the president anything. Simply opening the government and allowing all of Obama's criminals back into their offices is a non-starter. This removes any incentive that Democrats would have to negotiate in good faith.

McConnell tried putting $1.6 billion in the bill for fencing and the Democrats rejected it.
