I knew this would be the play. Force the Democrats to defend their position to in effect, choose illegal immigrants over American citizens. They are going to lose even more support and any argument they make on any number of broader issues will lead back to this position. It will also rally support for the wall.

They know that Trump is right on this, but the left rely so much of identity politics that they placed all their eggs in this basket in order to have any success in elections. Trump is in fact doing the same, but he is on the side of the American citizens and legal immigrants. The numbers are on his side.
