$1.8B in CASH was sent from the US to Iran. This wasn't money that was Iran's until frozen, little to none of those funds were actually under US control. This was money tied to an arms contract from 1979 where it's actually disputed whether the US owed Iran the original $400M let alone the $1.i3B in interest. Obama did simply give Iran that cash
