Frankly, what bothers me most is that this is simultaneously happening in several western democracies, where in every one of them power is held by leftist governments.

Canada, Australia, New Zealand, all disarmed their citizens, and just needed a reason strong enough to overtake the power and eliminate any resistance. COVID.

France, Germany, Austria and few others were lost to leftist in Brussels long before, and Great Britain might just dodged the bullet by leaving EU.

The only hope for Canada, AUS and New Zealand I can see is in Queen, who is reigning sovereign (or her appointed Governor General), and she has power to dismiss the Prime Minister, appoint another, or simply dismiss Parliament itself. She has lived thru WWII and seen what fascism and socialism are capable of, and this is in my opinion the closest thing we got to it since then.

The only thing that is keeping the US from being on the list of massive protesters against oppressive mandates is that we are a union of states. It may be oppressive in NY but it is free in Florida.
