Exactly. There was no underlying crime. It was perfectly legal for him to talk with his Russian counterparts or Russians in general. Why Flynn lied to the VP and FBI about the entire content of his conversations or denied that others had taken place is still mysterious. The dude apparently lied when he had nothing to hide.
