If you news network is losing viewers, what do you do to change the situation?

If you are the head of NBC, you go more liberal

Keith Olbermann to Become ‘NBC Nightly News’ Contributor
Posted by Noel Sheppard on February 15, 2007 - 13:48.
If you had any doubts concerning the leftward political movement of NBC News, the new contract given to MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann should convince you that Bill O’Reilly is 100 percent right (h/t National Review’s Media Blog).

As reported by the Associated Press, along with a contract extension for “Countdown” through 2011, “Olbermann will also contribute occasional essays to ‘NBC Nightly News’ and there will be two prime-time ‘Countdown’ specials a year on NBC, a division of NBC Universal, said NBC News President Steve Capus.”

Hmmm. So, rather than add another conservative contributor to a staff heavily laden with liberals, NBC News has decided to give more airplay to one of the most partisan and vitriolic personalities on television today.

Of course, this shouldn’t surprise readers given the sentiments expressed by Capus in this article: “Bill O’Reilly’s criticism of NBC News as a liberal-leaning network is ‘really kind of sad and pathetic,’ the network’s news president said.”

This appears to be heating up the television news war even further: “David Tabacoff, executive producer of Fox News’ ‘The O’Reilly Factor,’ said Thursday in a statement, ‘It’s nice to see that Jeff Zucker let Steve off his leash for a few minutes, but what is it about being exposed as a liberal news organization that he finds sad and pathetic?’”

Actually, David, with this announcement of a greater involvement in NBC News by Olbermann, it seems quite clear that Capus is reveling in his news organization being exposed as liberal.

Regardless, as MSNBC is losing the cable news war to all of its competitors, including CNN Headline News, one has to wonder why NBC News is at all interested in moving personalities from a losing division to a winning one. That’s kind of like moving a pitcher from your losing AAA team onto your first-place team in the Majors.

Not exactly smart management theory, wouldn't you agree?

Could it be that, perhaps, they are moving closer to reality...? Closer to the majority of Americans...?

You can't be serious. If their opinions reflect the majority of American's then they should be gaining viewers, not losing them.

Or could it be, perhaps, that they are moving further to the left...? Closer to the majority of the "Airhead America" crowd....?

I think Capus is making another bad business decision in order to spite Bill O'Reilly. If so, that's kind of sad and pathetic in of itself.

Speaking of sad and pathetic, moonbat exhibit A :

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Arkin

He's even worked for (Liberal) Human Rights Watch AND Greenpeace! MSM Bias? WHAT MSM bias?

Live by the ideology, die by the ideology, sad and pathetic again when Keith Olbermann is supposed to anyone's saviour.

Is that why Fox News is adding viewers, and the big three are losing them?

Republicans dont like it when Liberals get added to the TV airwaves. Rebpublicans dont like it when libs get on TV and tell the truth. And just like true republicans they certainly dont like it when people tell the truth about them. Kind of sounds like a red states post dont it ?

    Hi Red State..(Handshake).

I do know our media is influenced by whatever party the owners feel loyal too..I also feel they drum down the news if & when they can get away with it on the facts to smoothly soak it into us...whatever case that may be..Be a Lib..or a Con show,paper..advertisement..whatever...

I think even the Libs hold back..in the true mess of the situation this country is facing..They could say alot worse...but behind the lines we don't see,know...or even come close to understanding how both parties meet half way....If it was me there...I'd say it like it is.

Big decisions in this country are not weighed in with justice or reason anymore...We use to meet half way on issues...or at least 30-40/60 -70

    WE ALWAYS DID..till BUSH.

    Republicans were Republicans back then...

And they gripe about Chevez?...(shaking my head)..The only thing that guy is guilty of..is puting humor into all this...We're a dam laughing stock is what we are...Nobody here gave a squat prior to how things were going in his little part of the woods before all this...If it was not for Oil over there in Venezuela..this guy could demand Nudism be part law...Things get even more silly in the world...your 6-10 bigest producing countries will get more wacky than the spout outa Venezuela.

He went out of his way fooling the American People...with Iraq..

I'm sorry..I just can't buy the evidence he even produced before..or after..that even I myself would of accepted..as we better take this guy out(Saddam).

We say that the Mossad at least..should of had accurate info on the truth...If not them..wouldn't you think we with the our intelligence agencies abroad know some darn facts?

Due to the internet..the American people are geting smarter..You ever read the other side of the story...It will confuse you...you'll start standing in middle ground.

We're gona start demanding some truth here in this country...It's time we stop voting on things that effect us only....We vote for tax breaks..and who's for this..or not....and those that don't want that as an issue to run for office to begin with...It's crazy.....I feel bad for some on the issues we face...It a vote that puts them in office.

We could even have a spar with Iran....things get more heated with Iraq...who knows what else.

We're smart enough to run our own lifes..but we have ups & downs...We rate orselves..as people.

We've had enough...even Rush Limbough I feel has lost his comedian type style...Was busted with a bunch of Viagra..to go hump his brains out in fun land...If this would of been even a Lib Mayor..he would of demanded he resign..

As far as ratings go.....That's just the way things go for those who don't take interest..I myself would even go farther..but that's just me..:)

They should do CNN RE-RUNS...and all the sh_t most of us have forgot about...Maybe that would lower ratings even more for some..and raise ratings for others.

Not bitching at ya...just got some beers in me...

    Peace..:)

If thats what you choose to believe, fine. I think its just another step in the direction of being irrelevant.

Broadcast media has been losing its grip on the general population for a number of years, and they haven't a clue on what to do about it.

But their not relevant anyway, so let the fat lady............:eusa_whistle:
