Time to make Puerto rico a state

These people are American citizens and we should give them every right every other American has...
-Vote for President, senator, congressman, etc.
-Respect

And we should probably invest a few hundred billion in their energy infrastructure.

Invest your own damn money, boy.

No they cannot be a state. One third of their population already receives food stamps and other assistance. Besides many their do not want to be a state of the United States.
Welfare in Puerto Rico - Wikipedia

Public welfare in Puerto Rico
is a system of nutrition assistance, public health, education, and subsidized public housing, among others, provided to the impoverished population of the island. It is mainly funded by United States Federal assistance and by local government funds.

Puerto Rico received more than $6.5 billion annually in federal aid from the United States.[1] A substantial portion of this amount is earmarked for public welfare, including funding educational programs (such as Head Start), subsidized housing programs (such as (Section 8 and public housing projects), and a food stamp system called the Nutrition Assistance for Puerto Rico program.
They do not want to be a state because that would mean paying federal taxes. Which is good as it is.

That assumes they wouldn't be in the percentage of those not paying federal income taxes but benefiting from being part of society.

You can't "make" them a state.

They can vote themselves statehood, but have never done so in the past.

Agreed.

Just what we need. 3.5 million more votes for leftists. We keep them on welfare but at least they cannot officially vote (but they do, don't they? especially in NYC)

Weird, most people on welfare and the biggest takers are the southern states.
Those southern states are still pissed at the Republicans for freeing their slaves.
No; in modern times southern racists were all Democrats until they were betrayed by the civil rights legislation pushed through by Lyndon Johnson and the Democratic Party. Overnight, the racists gave their allegiance to the party of Abraham Lincoln. That is when the Democrats lost the South,

Puerto Ricans have been serving in, and fighting in USA's military, unlike clinton, trump, bush jr. cheney. Maybe time for statehood, if they want it.

And to this day the southern dixiecrats call their home the republican party!

They hate human rights
They hate first world infrastructure, education and science
They're super religious and holier then thor

That is what has taken over the republican party!

Unlike the others, Clinton gave up an earned exemption and took a chance with the draft; none of the others left open 1 second of chance they might have to serve this country in war.
