CDZ Thoughts about pot legalization

Citation regarding the same effect from cannabis, please.

You sound like a child who keeps asking "why?" Do you actually dispute that the ingestion of any foreign particulate matter is harmful to the lungs? Do you have any basis for believing that smoke from burnt cannabis is less harmful than smoke from burnt tobacco? Why do you think firefighters have an increased incidence of lung disease? Are you incapable of deductive logic?

Could it be different because tobacco smokers might smoke 20 or more cigarettes a day and pot smokers may take two or three puffs from one joint?

Some people use marijuana in cookies or brownies. It doesn't seem to cause mouth cancer like chewing tobacco.

Yes, I thought so to; citation, please.

You may want to review any literature on raw cannabis.

LOL citation, please. You might also want to check with warf, who thinks that swallowing a brownie has the same physiological effect as tucking tobacco (or cannabis?) in your cheek for hours on end every day. Do you honestly dispute that ingesting ANY carbonized plant material into your lungs poses a health risk?

Why do you call it "carbonized"?

Raw cannabis is great for those who're needed, that's right. But mostly cannabis was legalized to smoke it and getting high, won't you argue?

Do I really have to care as long as the Right is merely arbitrary and capricious when it comes to powerful, mood altering drugs.

Why must liberals turn everything political?

Why must liberals turn everything political?
Why must alleged conservatives be so lazy in helping to "beat a trail" where there should already be a "superhighway".

Why do you call it "carbonized"?

It is a chemical term for "burnt."
There is conflicting information; but, from some anecdotal evidence I have found, pot smokers may do better on lung capacity tests than some habitual cigarette smokers.

Here is something that has some science to it:

“The THC in marijuana has well-defined anti-tumoral effects that have been shown to inhibit the growth of a variety of cancers in animal models and tissue culture systems, thus counteracting the potentially tumorigenic effects of the procarcinogens in marijuana smoke.”--Source: Marijuana and Lung Cancer - Leaf Science

Probably just needs more research:

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved the use of Cannabis as a treatment for any medical condition. To conduct clinical drug research in the United States, researchers must file an Investigational New Drug (IND) application with the FDA.

We have a Commerce Clause not a drug war clause for that form of Socialism.

I rather see people lighting up a doob than downing alcohol.

Though I believe people need to be held accountable for their actions...which means I am not in favor of legalizing any mind altering substances without first developing a reliable scientific method for measuring intoxication.

When the person high on reefer runs a red light and injures or kills, i want them held accountable!

I wonder how pot can kill or slow down cancer or AIDS. Those who decided to legalize pot gradually (as it goes now) definitely wanted federal-level legalization for recreational use some day or other. So, when marijuana was first allowed for medical use, the government knew that it would be finally legalized countrywide? Can’t understand such policy. Many people got addicted to drug they didn’t want to try some time ago, many people served years of their lives in jail, many people serve their time in jail right now.

Sounds like you got some schwag. Black market, I'm guessing.

There is no rational reason to have pot illegal and alcohol and cigarettes legal.

We learned that prohibition doesn't work 80 years ago- and all of the consequences from alcohol prohibition happened with pot prohibition.
As states legalize pot, we can learn how to best regulate sale and usage- just as we did for alcohol.

Essentially I believe we should treat pot like we do alcohol.

I agree. Our proverbial "war on drugs" creates huge financial incentives for criminals to supply the prohibited substance. History has proven that regulation rather than prohibition is far better for society.
