As a white guy growing up in the inner city, I was taught that pitying blacks because they're black is immoral. I think my parents got it right.

Sounds to me a lot like the mindset some slaveowners had, that blacks need to be owned as slaves because they can't handle freedom or living on their own/independence.

I'm old enough to remember when blacks were making it on their own without federal assistance...

but I also remember it was a hard life for many of 'em in a cultural system that generally offered little assistance...

yeah, I can understand why the feds threw dumptrucks of money at the black folks back then... but the terms of compliance to get the money encouraged poor women to make babies without the benefit of having a father in the home... and we've been reaping the failed harvest of that setup for the last several decades...

Personally, I am sick and tired of Republicans ignoring the narrative the Democrats continue to put out there and not correcting the record. I am sick and tired of the GOP just shrugging off the continual drum beat and accusations of them being the racists or the ones who despise or hate blacks, and ignoring the fact that the true racists are mostly the Democrats. I am sick and tired of Democrats taking credit for something that never would have happened had it been left up to the Democrats.

It is time that the Republicans insisted on telling their own story rather than allowing the Democrats to rewrite it for them.

You either think that treating all people the same regardless of race, ethnicity, or whatever is the non racist view. Or you think treating people of certain races, ethnicity or whatever as perpetual victims in need of "Whitey's" help is the non racist view.

I agree with a lot of that, that was kinda the point of me making this thread. When many democrats pity blacks solely because of their skin color, that's racist to me.
